It must have been dripping for ages yesterday and there is a big blob on the carpet. It is a foam backed carpet and I reckon it is synthetic, maybe with some wool - not sure realy though. I have piched a lot of it off, bu there is still a load that has soaked into the fibres! Help!

There is now a dispute as to who's wall it is and who will pay for it to be rebuilt. Is there a general rule as to which wall or fence belongs to which property.I seem to remember it being said that the wall on the left looking from the front is yours.Any help will be appreciated.

you know the deal, get the front done, we'll do the back for nothing, or buy one get one free, find these windows elsewhere...even getting a cheap door was a four sitting negotiation for us.
has ANYONE, EVER, managed to qualify for an advertised deal from a double glazing company..?

I heard it would take 2 months for the remodel to complete, which means 2 months of mortgage going to waste. Are there any contractors who can finish the project faster? Do they charge more?
Thanks.

I know it's not under the sink. Any tips on thawing it out?
It's froze solid. I wouldn't suspect out side going to the septic but my next door neighbors have exactly the same problem on the same day with seperate septics. Same property, around a small lake.

Okay, Here's the thing....I have this open floor plan livingroom/kitchen area. It has a floor to ceiling fireplace in the middle of the room (which is brick~that has been painted WHITE!!) with a sliding glass door on each side. Stay with me now....the ceiling is vaulted with beams which is also ALL white. Just thinking about this makes me ill. Now, here comes the good part...The walls in the living area are painted a dark shade of red!!!! and the walls in the kitchen area are ORANGE!!!! I just wanna cry! I can't stand all the white...or the painted fireplace but I can see why someone would have done it...They were probably trying to bring the white from the ceiling down throughout the room. If you have any color ideas....I have no problem painting the walls. However, I can't imagine painting the fireplace...I say this because of all the white on the ceiling. It just over powers things. Any ideas maybe on a shabby chic look? Thanks

I inherited my house from my grandfather. When I divorced my husband, I was awarded it because it was important to me (that and my ex was a real jerk and I won full custody of the children). I have always wondered about this room that's in the house and what it was used for. It literally is a hidden room. If you were to walk around the house you wouldn't even see it, and it doesn't have windows either. The entrance is hidden in the back and on the side of our very narrow broom closet. Why it has double doors I don't know, but it does. It's carpeted and in one section has linoleum. I currently use it for storage because I already filled up the attic (I kept my children's clothing and other sentiments) and I don't want to have to move anything down to the second or third levels of the house. What in the world is this for? If anyone knows, PLEASE let me know!

I have a mid 60's ranch style home with Birch hardwood paneling through out the entire house. The cabinets and doors are all the same color as the paneling. It is driving me crazy to have all this wood and no color except for the carpet and curtains. I know I can spackle the walls to get rid of the ridges in the paneling then paint.

My question is would painting the Hardwood paneling that the house was built with 40 years ago reduce the value of my home?

Hardwood paneling = plywood that has been striped to resemble paneling. Not the cheap thin stuff you find in old trailer houses.

Those clothes shavers. They are basically lint removers and also remove those little pills that somehow accumulate all over our garments, right? I want to get one if it serves both functions. I don't get good results when I use tape or those lint rollers covered with tape to remove lint and pills on very delicate items. I am just wondering how long the fabric will hold up if it is being shaved on a regular basis. Couldn't this eventually shave the fabric away to nothing? Am I being as clear as mud?

I would like to place a black four-cornered mosquito net canopy over my bed to give my room more sensuality (plus I am more relaxed in a darker space). Would this be bad? Also...what color should my comforter be? I have several colors in my room including a deep purple wall, deep reds, deep orange, jade/sage green, and teal blue. My current comforter is neutral, which bothers me. Thanks!

We live in a rural area.. we are looking at solar, wind, and battery backup and generators.. We really need enough to supply our house due to the harsh weather conditions here .The power doesnt fail often but I have a gut feeling we need the backup. We looked at generators that run about 3000 just for the generator but would like your ideas as to what would be a good investment or idea for backup.Any links to alternative power ideas that would supply 16 kw would be helpful or if you have ideas please let us know..Thanks for any info, also would like to mention im not physically able to build my own anything but maybe could hire someone locally if there were good enough plans for something.

I'm moving into a new place and am afraid that my queen size box spring will not bend around the curve in the stairs to get to the bedroom in one piece. Does anyone know where I can purchase a box spring that collapses or folds in half? Is there even such a thing?

We get sometimes white water coming out of part of the taps at home. Other taps have clear water.
Why is that happening? Is it unhealthy to drink it? How to solve it?
