Which one do u think is better. Home Depot to me seems very dirty and the air is so heavy. Lowes on the other hand is very clean and the air feels like it is cleaned. For those who do not agree with me please go to both home improvment centers and pick up something from both and then view ur hands and will see what I mean.

The top corner of my bathroom is nearly black! I'm pretty sure that it's a spider that made that mess. It looks like dark ashes, it's dirt, it's not even a web. I tried to wipe it out but it spreads.

Any ideas?

We stored our books in the basement and they got flooded by rain. Soon after I noticed anytime I got one of these books it felt like I was being bitten by microscopic bugs cos try as I might I could not see anything. My wife and daughter thought I was nuts for a while but once in a while it happens to them as well. I noticed it happens more when the room is warm but reduces if the room is cold like in the basement. Please advice is it anything we can kill or ward off I have a great collection of books I dont want to throw out or give to the library so as not to infect their collection as I'vefound that if u add a brand new book to these books it gets infected.

Dear readers,
I am about to redecorate my house by myself.
I was looking for a site that will feed me with information about the color effect on the mood and the personality.
I think there are some websites that will educate me of the color effect on emotions.
More like, the Colors anticipation on us-positively or negatively
I am looking for soothing and calming colors that brings joy, peace, and calmness to my family and me.

Any suggestions!!
Thanks

Trying to fix things around my mom's house and came across a leaking diverter stem in her shower. Upon inspection, I noticed gobs of pipe dope and teflon tape at the joint. I took the stem off and noticed the first 1/4" of the pipe (female) is badly stripped. Only if I take off the gasket can the stem begin to catch on the threading and even then, I can only further hand-tighten it a 1/4 turn. The stem itself only has about 1/2" of threading. Short of tearing down the tile and wall and sweating on new pipes--something beyond my ability--what's a good fix that's long lasting? I don't like to cut corners. Some ideas I had:

1. Capping off the pipe completely and moving the diverter to the tub spout. I should be able to find a deep cap that'll catch on the good threading (past the 1/4" mark) and make a good seal. Ugly since the cap will jut out beyond the tile.

2. Use a hot/cold stem in place of the diverter and move the stem as above. These stems have more threading.

I live in London (which has very hard water) and have gone through probably 10 irons in as many years. I always use water which has gone through a mineral filter jug but this still hasn't stopped two irons dying on me in the past year alone.

I have a sagged 15' by 15' kitchen floor in a 100 plus year old farmhouse on which I'm looking to install relatively expensive Congoleum DuraCeramic vinyl tile. Should I fix the sag before installing the tile and, if so, how? It's a center sag about an 1 1/4" at its worst tappering off to nothing at the sides and it is old. It's been there since I bought the house 15 years ago and does not appear to have gotten worse since I've been living there. The floor is supported by hand sewn 5x5 beams irregularly spaced roughly 24-28" on center going from foundation wall to foundation wall. These beams are perpendiculary supported by two 7x7 hand sewn beams also going from foundation wall to foundation wall. I have easy to this supporting underside. The kitchen floor presently has a vinyl self stick tile on top of plywood which is on top of the original floor boards. The kitchen cabinets are already installed on a platform to keep them level. What is the best way to deal with this?

A friend gave us a one year old leather couch. It was in her house, which has 8 dogs living in it. We cleaned it well for two days.

Day after we got it we started noticing moths in our house, just one or two at first. Now, 10-15 a day. Never saw one moth in our 4 yr old condo before that.

Reason this feels like an emergency: We have two small puppies. Did these moths come from Lice? Fleas? Ticks? From her house? And if SO…Are our puppies in danger now????? Does anyone know anything about this?

Thank you!

The cabinets are cherry with a walnut stain; they are in good condition & I like the style. The kitchen light is low due to a nothern exposure. I want to go lighter (maybe a white base with a brown wash) to help lighten the room & update the kitchen.

hi,

i'm very concerned. i am a renter & my bathroom ceiling (which is stucco) is full of black mold spots. whenever i shower i use the exhaust fan, keep the bathroom door open, etc. i do not have a bathroom window that opens (glass block window).

tried to scrub the mold of the ceiling many times using a brush, but the ceiling is stucco & the mold just keeps coming back. used tilex, many other products to no avail. lately new spots have been cropping up at a fast rate & i'm getting very scared. am i just freaking out? i've heard so many things about black mold & i am concerned for my family. phoned the landlord today to discuss & am waiting for a reply.

any suggestions would be helpful.

When my orchid finished flowering the instructions said to cut the stems at the first 'raised' joint, then new buds may start to form.

Well I did this, but alas, I think I may have cut the stems at the wrong end as I cut them at the 1st raised joints at the bottom! and all I am left with now is two stumps, it has been like this for months now, have I ruined the plant? Thanks :))

My Builder has just finished putting in a new double glazed window. Because it is smaller the surround is showing the old timber. He has pointed out that you cannot plaster over this as it will not take properly. I want a nice flat finish, not architrave.
Any suggestions or products I can use for a finish other than plaster. Thank you.
