i live in u.k.,the rest of electrics r working fine ,n have a lamp in just now as cant get hold of spark,help pls??

You blew a fuse or circuit breaker. Unplug the lamp and reset the circuit. Have a experiance person repair the lamp cord. Good luck.

something like this can easily cause a fire. your best bet is to replace the switch. if you dont know how then dont try to fix it. a $200 is cheaper than having your house burn down. leave the breaker off untill the problem is corrected.

check your fuse box,,if you do not have one,,check the circuit breaker

the swithch has shorted out you will need to replace the swithch
