I have no clue about decorating, colors, etc. Should I buy accessories first and then paint the walls to coordinate with the decorations, or paint the walls first and then find things to "match"?

I would prefer all the walls to have color--no white or off white.

A friend is insulating the attic for heat loss in her cabin in northern Michigan. Above the living space ceiling is some blown insulation covered by wood on the top of the truss base (to allow for attic storage). A contractor is rolling R25 plain insulation over the top of this wood planking. Is this wise and/or okay?

We just installed laminate wood floors & tiles in our open space living/kitchen room. We put ceramic tiles in the kitchen area & the wood laminate in the living area. Due to time constraints we had to get the laminate installed first before the tiles.
Our tiler was supposed to put something between the wood & the tiles but didn't.
He's not being very cooperative about completing this, so we are trying to do something ourselves.
What can we put there, so that the grout stops coming apart where the tiles & laminate wood meet?
Thanks.

I live in the country and my water comes from a well. It is only the kitchen sink where I have this problem. I do have a dishwasher, too.

I live in a Victorian Terrace and am having problems with music and television noise from next door which has been converted into flats. Ideally I need a solution I can do myself and which is cheap!
