Ask your neighbors if they remember when it was built. There is probably someone in the neighborhood that has been there as long as your house.

A 60's house will be a world apart from an 80's house and both are easy to spot. Unfortunately we can't see it !.

But any estate agent would be able to tell you, so would your neighbours or any builder. Also the deeds of the house and land registry are 2 good sources.

As its fairly recent the council planning department will know. I bet there will be someone there who will know straight off for you if its a road or estate built all about the same time. Just call your local council and ask to speak to someone in planning. Its 3:30 now, i bet you'd have the answer by 4pm

It should tell you on the title deeds but if you think it was the 60s surely all the houses on your street were built at the same time so try the local authority or ask some older neighbours

HM Land Registry. There are a number of LR offices around the country and you have to contact the ones nearest yor home as they will have dealt with the sale/purchase of your house. Give them the full address if you do not know the title number and they will conduct a search of the records..there is a small fee for this.

There are a number of visual clues.
Electricity Board Meter may have a date on it.
Distribution board may have an installation date on it.
Building wise as a rule of thumb;
The more bricks used the older the house. The more plasterboard & breeze block the younger the house.
Style wise; avocado/brown bathroom -sixties seventies.
Plumbing; type of lagging on pipes/type of pipework. Heating
system boiler may have date stamp on it.
Even the wallpaper could give you a clue.

he's an answer that is most likely way too simple to be helpful, but it's worked for me: if the toilets in the house are original, look under the water tank lid.. toilets are stamped with the year that they are produced, and they were most likely installed the same year they were made... unless they've been updated. (you should also be able to contact the person in charge of deeds for your area, usually through the local couthouse, and get all that info.)

Your paperwork should have the answer.

Try www.zillow.com

If it covers your area, it will have the year your house was built, and it's free.

Or, call your realtor. This information should have been in the MLS, which they will still have access to.
