We moved to a new apartment this past weekend, and we have a bit of a roach problem. They sprayed for them before we moved in, and there were many dead ones on the kitchen floor, but now they're back. I don't mean they're swarming the walls, but I see and kill at least 5 or 6 per day. I've set traps (Combat roach traps) and am waiting for them to work. I could call the office and have their pest guy come out, but they spray that stuff that gets all over EVERYTHING and will make a mess. They say it's safe for kids, but I have two young toddlers who still crawl around/play and have to pick up everything and put it in their mouths. :) Any advice/suggestion what I can do?

When I removed painters tape from the crown molding, a small line of the original paint color was covered and is now showing between the new paint and the crown molding. It is very small line that a small artists brush or foam brush would cover. Will these work. I used Benjamin Moore/Putnam Ivory/ Flat paint.

My daughter has an issue with peeing the bed. And we have a waterproof pad, but even after washing it, it still smells like pee.

What sort of cleaner can I use to get the smell out of the sheet and mattress pad?

I would like to maximize the amount of finished space to use for entertaining. My wife believes that if you dont have enough storage space you cannot sell a house easily. So what is the right answer???? 50% storage 50% finished??? Or less?

I have a two story house (40 years old) and there is a room next to the kitchen that I want to tear down. I want an open space for my kitchen, dining room, and living area. We have already taken all the sheetrock off and are left with all the poles standing. How can we find out which poles are supporting the upstairs? or How can we find out if that roof has a steel pole that doesn't need support from the poles?

What is the point of the man from comet helpfully phoning me this morning to tell me he will be here between 11am and 2pm if he clearly is not going to turn up during this time? It's really annoying.

A couple of days ago my 2 year old brought me the Nestle syrup & asked for "pink milk". I noticed the lid was loose and the bottle was empty. I, then, noticed a huge puddle of syrup on my cream-colored carpet.

I blotted it up. That helped some but it's still pink. I've tried the little green machine, Resolve, Spot Shot, Woolite OXY. My best friend's husband recommended I try lighter fluid but I'm still too nervous to try that. I read somewhere online that diluted peroxide might work but I'm nervous about that also. (Wouldn't that bleach it?)

Any Ideas??? Thanks!

My gas heater is not working properly. I have it set to a certain temperature and it will shut off before it gets there. I have to keep turning it off and on in order to get any heat. Sometimes it will stay on until the desired temperature is reached, but more often than not it stays on for a few minutes and then turns off. It does say I need to replace the battery, but it has been saying that since last winter too, and it didn't affect our a/c this past summer. Will replacing the battery make a difference or should I call a tech? I am not good at DIY with heaters and electrical/gas issues.

I have recently treated a patch of ground in my garden with well rotted farmyard manure and compost, before planting some 400 spring bulbs. My local squirrel has started acting like a dog that has found a dead crow or pile of badger $h!t. He/She runs around the area, rubbing itself in the soft layer of compost/manure turning somersaults, jumping up and down throwing the stuff up in the air, acting like a cat with a very large dose of catnip WHY? the soft tips of my growing bulbs are being devastated.
