A couple of days ago my 2 year old brought me the Nestle syrup & asked for "pink milk". I noticed the lid was loose and the bottle was empty. I, then, noticed a huge puddle of syrup on my cream-colored carpet.

I blotted it up. That helped some but it's still pink. I've tried the little green machine, Resolve, Spot Shot, Woolite OXY. My best friend's husband recommended I try lighter fluid but I'm still too nervous to try that. I read somewhere online that diluted peroxide might work but I'm nervous about that also. (Wouldn't that bleach it?)

Any Ideas??? Thanks!

I wouldn't use any kind of solvent so don't use lighter fluid. It may weaken the waffle back of the carpet. By waffle back, I'm referring to the mesh on the back of the carpet. If you weaken this it may eventually tear in that spot. Call a carpet cleaner who will us a dye kit or professional carpet coloring kit. They will know what to do. The more you scrub the looser your fibers will get. Then you will have to have a carpet installer stretch that area and you don't want that. Cream carpet with pink dye is gonna be a tough clean so call in the pros.

I would get a mister bottle, and put about 1/4 bleach to 3/4ths water, and shake it up really good !!! And from a distance spray the area, and imediately get a back-up (just water) mister, and spray it, again!!! And scrub away with your scrub brush!!! And repeat if necessary!!! I hate to recommend bleach, because it will change the color of your carpet, if you use too much, but if you've tried everything else, that's your only other choice, to be honest...... And in the future, I would get it as soon as something has spilt, and inform your kids to tell you as soon as something has been spilt.... And then you could use SHOUT, with a scrub brush, it doesn't stain, and it works great, for getting out carpet spots and clothing spots/stains!!!! Smile, and Good-Luck, to you!!!!

Most of the products you used have probably set the stain. Do not use any more chemicals on it, you will have to hire someone to come and professionally clean the carpet. They do have the solutions to treat these types of stains. Not only will the stain be pulled out, your carpet will be fresher and cleaner for your child to be on

Pay for someone to come in and clean the carpet in that room (or all of your rooms). They are usually pretty good about getting stains out.
Good Luck!
