In the recent high winds, my neighbours tree has blwon down. Now he's blaming me because earlier, I had a tree cut down on my side of the fence (stump not removed). This was acting as a wind break for his tree it seems. He is trying to claim compensation for the loss of his tree, the removal cost for the fallen tree and the cost of a replacement tree. Anyone got any advice or been through similar unpleasantness?

I've recently been burning some salvaged cottonwood in my woodstove and have noticed a hard, vitreous residue as well as ash. This residue coats and sometimes bonds with the firebrick. What is it and is it toxic? ( I usually dump the ashes in my garden and lawn.)

I have a silk comforter made with silk batting that I'd like to wash. Is it okay to wash in the washer/dryer? Or does this take special cleaning methods?

I bought comforter/duvet in China on a trip there. Instructions were included but they were in Chinese!
