My cellar door is also frozen solid, so I cannot get under the house to see what there is to see. I'm worried -- there's no money. Good news, I suppose is that the dirty coffee mugs are soaking in the tub. Do I keep the kitchen sink "on" to see if the water starts? I have no idea what to do. It's nearly five pm and getting colder by the minute -- any suggestions, please. Thank you so much

We've taken a room back to the studs and we want to build a wall to wall closet. We don't know if it's best to hang all the drywall for the room, and then build the closet -or- build the closet frame and then hang all the drywall for the room and the closet. All the DIY website pages do it the first way, but this is usually when adding a closet to an existing room. Since we are starting from "scratch", which is the better way to go as for ease and for stability?

We use those square birdseed cakes that fit in the wire cage holders. One of the seeds sprouts into a plant with fine stinging hairs on the stems. Baking soda/water paste does not relieve the stinging. Neither does trying to pull the hairs from the skin with tape. Any ideas? SERIOUS ANSWERS ONLY PLEASE!

My mom has an old brick fishpond that she wants to convert into a planter. The pond is 17" high & holds 52 cubic feet. What would I have to do as far as prep, providing drainage w/o compromising the stability of the structure, what mix of soil, etc.& to begin planting it in the spring how soon should I start converting it? In short, whats the best way for me to proceed? I have a lot of experience gardening but none whatsoever doing a project like this. Thanx in advance for any & all advice!

~~~I live in the desert,,it has been extreamly cold. Tonight it should get down to 29degrees. I have a beautiful Mexican Heather in a pot. It needs to be watered. Is it better to water after the cold night or before? I dont want to bring it in the house afraid the warmer temp indoors will shock it? Or should I put it in my garage. There is no wind where the potted plant is at.
They are already orange, some more than others. The fruit is not real sweet but not too sour to eat. Someone share some knowledge please. Oh yeah, I'm in San Diego, CA.
I was told as long as you don't let the china go throught the drying cycle it will not be damaged and I have done so a few times and so far nothing has happened.
Here's the situation (and laugh it up if you'd like):
--I have my Grandmother here, who had just spent the night...and she had wet bed...MINE, in general. And many of us know that old people stink (no offense to those currently reading). My brother was supposed to take care of my bed, but he had decided to vacuum the bed's wet spot. The linen's dry, but now the vacuum reeks...and since we're trying to use it, everyone in the house--grandma aside--is suffering.
---Does anyone know how to permanently rid a vacuum of such a rank stench?! Please answer quickly---my brother's resorting to using coffee creamer as a carpet deodorizer....-_-
