Heat the new non stick pans on the stove.Turn the heat off and coat with a little bit of cooking oil.
Heat it up again, then rinse the oil out.
You're all set.

Sometimes new utensils must be "seasoned" You should put a thin coating of vegetable oil on them and bake them in the oven (if they can go in the oven)for 10-15 min on 350 degrees.
I have a cast iron frying pan I season everytime I use it.

It is a way of getting your cast iron pans ready for cooking with less sticking of food.

Seasoning a cast iron pan
Wash pan in warm soapy water
Use a scouring pad to remove all manufacturing residue; this will also roughen the surface and prepare it for seasoning
Fill pan with salt and leave on a gas flame for at least 1. 5 hours (medium flame) without disturbing
Remove pan from heat (handle will be extremely hot) and empty salt into sink (salt will be of extreme temperature, so do not empty into a plastic bin or bin liner!)
Remove any residual salt by rubbing pan with paper towels (remember pan is still red hot!!)
Half fill pan with cooking oil (use one with a high flash point eg. soya) and place on a low heat for 30 minutes
Remove from heat and discard the oil
Remove any residual dirty oil with paper towels
Rub or wipe with fresh oil before storage

When you have a cast iron pan or a stone baking pan. you need to season them. Put oil on them and bake or use on stovetop depending on pan. Use them empty. YOu do this because these type of pan have pours.

means to "cure" the pan.....think along the lines of pottery...when it s fired! to season a pan, coat with lard, not veg. oil, set in a preheated oven set at 450-500 for 20 mins......
