Our 3YO got creative, all over the bathroom. Ideas? Nail Polish remover will likely work, but will it ruin the finish on those surfaces?

This morning, I woke up and found black stuff under my door on the carpet and when I ran a washcloth under the door, the black stuff came off onto it. We took the door off and there was nothing on the bottom. The vaccuum did not get the black off the carpet but a wet towel did in fact get it off the door frame. Also, I changed the filter in my home 2 days ago and I checked it today and it was so dirty that I had to replace it. What the heck is happening and could this be a fire hazard???

I am trying to brighten up a bathroom by installing glass block window through an interior wall between the bathroom and bedroom. The joists are on 16 in centres but that does not allow for a nice fit. I probably need to cut off one of the joists in the opening and add another, just not sure how to add a side to the opening

My downstairs bathroom has a exterior wall and the water lines are prone to freezing up. I usually leave the cold water trickling when the weather dips but yesterday the hot water froze (now is thawed with the help of a blowdrier). Should I leave the hot and cold both trickling. Any reason not to leave the HOT trickling????

Is it the plumbers putty placed under the flange lip, or the flat rubber washer on the underside, that is tightened on with the locking nut?

I need to buy a bit to do this job and I don't know which one to buy. Also, do I really need a plunge router to do this? Can't I drill a small hole in advance using a drill and then use my regular router to cut the opening out? I plan to use a rectangular guide that I build from scrap wood to keep the shape exact.

I have 2 end tables and a coffee table that are about 16 years old. They are cherrywood Chippendale tables. Could I strip off the dark finish and refinish it in a medium pecan-like stain? Is cherry always stained dark because it is an ugly wood? Would the Chippendale style look odd in a pecan finish? I'm trying to combine a traditional style with kind of a Tuscan-rustic style, would this sort of move me in that direction? It's really not an option to replace the tables just yet. Thanks in advance for your answers.

I would like a climing plant to give my house a more country cottage look. I have been told that letting a climing plant grow up a house wall can cause damage to the property. Is this true?
