DIG PLANTING HOLE TWO TO THREE TIMES THE WIDTH OF THE ROOT BALL AT THE SOIL SURFACE, SLOPING DOWN TO ABOUT THE WIDTH OF THE ROOT BALL AT THE BASE. THE HOLE SHOULD NEVER BE DEEPER THAN THE ROOT BALL. CUT THE BOTTOM OUT OF THE BURLAP SO THE TAP ROOT WILL ESTABLISH, SLIT THE SIDES OF THE ROOT BALL SO THE ROOTS WILL ESTABLISH, INSERT ROOT BALL INTO HOLE. CUT TOP OF BURLAP FROM ROOT BALL. THIS WILL ENHANCE WATER INFILTRATION BECAUSE BURLAP CAN CAUSE A WICKING EFFECT AND REPEL WATER. ALL TWINE AND ROPES TIED AROUND THE TRUNK OF THE TREE MUST BE REMOVED TO AVOID GIRDLING ROOTS AND STRANGULATION. IF THERE IS A WIRE BASKET HOLDING THE ROOT BALL TOGETHER CUT AWAY THE UPPER ONE-THIRD TO ONE-HALF OF THE WIRE BASKET TO AVOID FUTURE ROOT PROBLEMS.

Try to determine what the wrap is made of, if it is burlap (the usual) then untie the wrap from the top and leave it down halfway. Plant so the root ball is the same level as the hole you dig. When you fill in, water when the soil is halfway filled, then finish filling and water again. The best way to water is to let the hose slowly trickle until you see air bubbles coming out. You can make a saucer like trough around the finished filled hole to catch water or leave level. If you mulch, and you probably should, leave about 2" from the base of the tree, and mulch about 2-4" depth. No need to fertilize, and try to handle the tree by the ball from the bottom when planting, never the trunk. Also, if you need staking go on sites that describe this as well as wrapping to protect from sunscald.

If the wrap is cloth, usually burlap, then just trim back to below ground level otherwise it will 'wick' water up and away from the roots. If it is plastic you definitely need to remove it or it will restrict the root growth. and could cause girdling which will kill the tree eventually. I would even recommend shallow cuts in the burlap around the ball to give the small roots an easier time spreading to the surrounding soil..

Leave it on, but make sure that the ties are cut around the trunks so that they don't strangle the trees. Water them in well and pay extra attention to watering the first couple of years.

definitely remove wrap. make hole size larger than root ball and add miracle grow potting soil and peat mixture for a good start.
Careful not to over water. mulch around trunk.

I see no advantage leaving it on. Toss it.
