This morning, I woke up and found black stuff under my door on the carpet and when I ran a washcloth under the door, the black stuff came off onto it. We took the door off and there was nothing on the bottom. The vaccuum did not get the black off the carpet but a wet towel did in fact get it off the door frame. Also, I changed the filter in my home 2 days ago and I checked it today and it was so dirty that I had to replace it. What the heck is happening and could this be a fire hazard???

sounds like you need to ask someone who knows what they are talking about. If it is black mold, it can be dangerous to your health.

Mold will not normally come off with a damp cloth. we had to clean hard in the bathroom to get ride of the mold. then paint with a silver undercoat so the stain would not show.
