Quite frequently I have to turn the programmerl on and off to gerk the gas valve (solenoid) into action. I have been unable to obtain a replacement for my 1973 Ideal Standard/Honeywell V800A1153. Is it possible that it just needs a clean and could my Corgi plumber do it easily?

i have heard different sides to this question. I have heard that you will save money if you lower the thermostat in your home during the day while you are at work, but i have also heard that it doesn't save money because you use more energy trying to raise your home's temperature, and you are better off keeping your thermostat at a consistant temp. for refrence in our situation, i was going to lower the theromstat to about 62 during the day and raise it to 68 when we get back home.

I've read there isn't much insulating difference between a single pane and a double-pane window,-- it maybe amounts to $5 per window per year in heating oil. Search for "R U Warm yet" on this website: http://blog.tomevslin.com
So it seems the main reason to fix a double pane with condensation between the panes is aesthetic. Does everyone agree?

I have a Baxi Bermuda S gas boiler and just recently it has started making a rumbling noise when the gas burner is on. It sounds similar to the noise you get from a blow torch when it's just been lit and isn't burning smoothly. The noise happens ONLY when the burner is lit. It also doesn't happen the whole time, it's intermittent, happening only a couple of times each evening. Any suggestions?
Many thanks for any useful info.
Kind regards
Luke H
