its a new fridge, the water sometimes drips onto packaging if it rests against back-plate. I've never seen this before

No, it shows the fridge is working! - the back plate of the fridge is where all the cooling occurs. The water is just condensation from the air.

The best way to reduce it is to not have the door open for long periods. e.g. if you're getting milk out to put on your cereal/in your tea then take the bottle out, close the door, use the milk and then put it back in the fridge, don't leave the fridge open the whole time.

This is common, the back plate should remain untouched. Are you sure the fridge does not need defrosting?

phone the shop where you bought it from and if not happy with explanation ask for replacement.could be temp stat is on wrong setting?

check your temp control someone could have altered it.try no5 or 6 setting get it colder
