My fridge (GE model, approx 3 years old) became an oven today. The thermostat's recommended temperature is 37 degrees, and when I opened the fridge a couple of minutes ago, it read 134.

Called GE support, and the best they could do was schedule an "emergency" maintenance call on Wednesday. I turned off the fridge (pulled plug) and just plugged back in...aside from throwing out my food, I would appreciate your insight into what's wrong and/or next steps.

Many thanks...

I live in an old house which I am sure needs re-wiring. A couple of years ago we noticed a `fishy` smell when some lights were on also those light fittings were a little scorched around the rim, we solved the problem by changing the faulty light fittings but now two years later they are showing signs of scorching again, as of yet no `fishy` smell..... Any ideas folks?

I was quoted a maximum of £275. which I thought was a bit toppy. However when the work was finished I paid £230 - which I thought was generous. Now the man who did it is saying that in total it comes to £310 and which I think is extortionate. He is accusing me of breaking my contract with him - but honestly I thought that he meant that it might come to £275 - but looking at what he has done it doesn't seem to be worth that much. He simply removed a small cupboard, screwed in a bit of board with 2 small brackets to hold up the counter top and put in the necessary piping and stuff to plumb in the dishwasher. Actually he didn't even do it himself but supervised some eastern european guy who did it all. He is being unpleasant and difficult. I live alone with my children and I don't want any more hassle. But - he still has my back door key!!!! What to do????

They are long black streaks that come down from the roof top. Anyone know what causes this and if so what is the cure or a way to clean the roof off.

I usually place them on the ironing board, and hang them off the board to avoid wrinkles, and let it dry.

I do not hang my polo collared shirts to avoid the pointers in the shoulder area.

Is there a better way to dry my polo shirts for work?

I only put them in the dryer for 10 min to get the wrinkles out, but i'm not a fan of using the dryer, it tends to shrink everything WAY too much.

My father told me my Grandfather helped build the tunnel to Canada..It got me wondering . How do they get or build a tunnel underwater without getting it full of water.
My Grandfather was dead when I found out he built it. So I couldn't ask him.

Okay here's what happened: my spa has a tile-covered waterfall along the back. I cleaned the tile with Tilex brand tile cleaner. It contains phosphoric acid but the label did not mention detergents. I used perhaps 1/4 - 1/2 cup for 2 8'X6' panels of tile.
When I turned on the jets (it doesn't foam when the waterfall is on) the soap bubbles were so deep they looked like some slapstick comedy routine Kramer from Seinfeld would find himself in. All I needed was a horse to feed some Beef-a-reeno to and I was set.
Any ideas - short of draining the spa - on how to reduce the foaming? My pool guy is out of town for a week and a half on vacation. Thanks, fellow spa owners/pool maintenance people!

I'm looking to do some upgrades to my 86 year old house. It still has the original windows (wavy glass and all) which gives it character, but doesn't help with heat or security. Would the expense of installing new storm windows come back to us when we go to sell??? There are A LOT of windows in my house.

I'm growing catnip, rosemary & basil. I'm not sure what they're subsisting off of in the plants and using a dustbuster to try & suck them up wasn't very effective. Can anyone help? I really don't want gnats in my food prep area.

My BF (condo-owner) insists on laying the cable. Can you lay cable over/around a doorframe? I don't think so. Is there a code on that? I'm not sure. I'm thinking lay it under the hardwood floor to get it across the room, not around the door frame. He says that's too difficult, afraid of breaking the planks. What's the best way to do this?

In my old condo, I had the cable layed under the hardwood floors throughout my place. I had extra hardwood planks, my BF doesn't have any extra for his.

Need help, some solid advice or suggestions.
