They are long black streaks that come down from the roof top. Anyone know what causes this and if so what is the cure or a way to clean the roof off.

It could sap and dust but it could also be a type of mold. If the house is in the shade or not in direct light mold can take hold and it usually propogates by mold spores traveling down with the dew or rain water. This gives it the top to bottom look.
