You will save hundreds of dollars in heating if you do not sell, and thousands over ten years. You will recover the cost of storm windows when you sell, plus an added 70 percent of that investment. So, if you put a thousand into the storms, you should be able to recover $1700 if you sell. Of course, that is if the rest of the place has also been brought up to the same standard. If you do not put on storms, you might not even be able to sell at all, code restrictions and all. HOWEVER... don't get rid of your wavy glass, it is historically valuable. It will be tough to find a window company that will simply make storms to fit without trying to replace all the windows. I wish you luck.

I have to say it really is worth it! We had a 50 yr old house when we first married & the windows were atrocious! We were gonna replace them, but we ended up buying a newer home before we got the chance... our new home had brand new windows and the house was only a little bigger... I can't tell you HOW MUCH MONEY we saved on our utility bills (so much more efficient!). They keep air from leaking in & out and they just look so much better. And let me advice you to keep any/all receipts of home improvement, b/c you can always ask more on your home when you have reciepts and ppl are usually willing to pay more b/c they are impressed to see the new stuff that went into this home they want. I highly recommend new storm windows if you have the money. Or you could even buy a few at a time here & there as you have the money.... put them in the rooms you use most so you can get the most of them. HTH & GL

Absolutely YES.
It almost doesn't matter to your case where you are located because you have historic single pane glass. That window is only slightly better for energy than having an open window.
The storm window would give you a second layer (like double glass) without destroying the aesthetic integrity of your historic home.
By the way, on the original window glass: Glass is (physical properties) a liquid and it is the slowest moving liquid on the planet. Over 75 or 100 years hanging, it will sag (think of maple syrup drooling down the window). What we architects do in historic restorations is have the glass removed, turned 180, upside down to sag the other way for another 100 years. Afterall, it IS the orignal glass of the house.
Now, if you don't care about the historic element of the house, all of my answers are pooh and you should have your windows replaced, as fast as you can, with double paned glass. Check with your energy supplier about rebates and incentives for energy conservation projects. They may even grant (rebate) some money on the storm window idea.

Storms would be the cheapest route as far as helping with security (some) and prevent drafts etc. I always looked at them as a "band-aid" for windows. Alot depends on your finances because "vinyl replacement windows" are far superior to storms but they cost quite a bit! If you want to keep the "character"of the old windows install some storms. You may have to re-glaze some of the old windows and paint before you install the storm windows! BTW...they are different types of storm windows like the tracks etc. Cheap ones have one track...you have to decide on the type/quality.

Where are you located? If you live in New England or any area that gets cold in the winter, the answer is YES. Get them. The money you save on your home heating bill would be well worth the expense, and I believe it would be a plus when you go to sell. At least install them on the north side of the house which tends to get the worst of the weather. Good luck in your decision.

no longer properly well worth the money no, do away with the 580gtx and get 2 560ti in sli, or 2 hd6970s swap the i5 for an i7 2600k if its for gaming, its very costly for the build, particular that's going to run video games yet a gtx580 is approximately £4 hundred in uk, unsure in europe, 2 560ti direct cu`s will value you approximately £340 in uk for a 20% advance in overall performance, in case you may build them or be conscious of anybody who are you able to could save atelast 500 euros on your build,
