Miele has never been cheap but it's just a German laundry panzer that you can't break. I worked for Comet as a senior warehouseman and first line technician and never saw a Miele have to be repaired; indeed there are only a few Miele engineers in the UK and they aren't overworked. We used to do extremely good prices on Miele, far cheaper than Curry's and all the independents so my first port of call would be a Comet store. You might drop lucky and get one that you can take away there and then. If you do beware- the chassis on them is high in iron content and the heaviest one weighs about eighteen stones!

Hope that's useful.
