We are looking at a house that needs complete modernisation. I think the boilers and radiators and prob the plumbing will all need replacing as over 20 years old. Does anyone have any idea what kind of cost I can expect? Thank you.

I use ginger often when i cook so I keep a lot around the house. The other day when i went to use some of my ginger root, i decided to break off one of the knobs and plant it. The other day i transplanted it to a bigger pot for when it grows, and i noticed it is taking root very well. I've heard that growing ginger is easy, but the only question i have is how will I know when its ready for me to use? And when it is ready, do I just break off part of the root, and replant the rest? Or do I remove teh whole root, then start it again from the knobs like i did with this one?

We are looking at a new house that requires a lot of modernisation - 3 bed semi. Does anyone know how much I can expect to carpet 2 x reception rooms, hallway and stairs, landing and 3 bedrooms? Just standard fairly hard-wearing carpet, 1 colour no patterns, short pile, nothing too posh/pricey? I need to budget for everything and haven't got a clue as not done this before! Thank you

It was fine in the summer it was sitting in a pot outside and bloomed like crazy. I just brought it in about a month ago and all the blooms fell off and now there aren't any more blooms at all. I have never seen it do this before. What winter care do I give it now it is inside? Thanks!

I have title white counter tops and I am a clean freak. Is there away or a product to seal the top of my title counter tops in a clear coat to protect the tile and keep them very white from stains and cooking? I really want like a teflon easy wipe off affect when wipe-ing down my kitchen counters everyday because the kids make such messes.

Just a wipe down and go...for a white white look in my kitchen
(yes I do clean regular for everyone with a smart A@@ remarks)

Thank you for your reply!

through the summer small bit,s of black soot came down through the furnace, and landed on the living room floor. we went through the process of tapping the pipe,s but only got black dust, no chunk,s but now after a week of furnace being lit , small chunks are coming out again. is this a danger of a fire starting?

I had a A/C tech come out. He checked the freon and the contactors. He said it is NOT the freon, and the contactors are fine. He doesn't know what is causing it and says he can't tell unless it is frozen at the time he sees it. Is this accurate? What else could it be? I am frustrated that I paid for a service call but still don't have an answer to my problem! It is not frozen now but I am assuming it will happen again.

On one end of my garage door there is a 1 inc open space and the other 3/4 inc. I have contacted a few door companies and all they can tell me is to remove the cement from the middle of the driveway where the door closes or build up with cement at the ends. There has to be an easier solution.

My lovely red PVC double glazed door has been damaged, gouged. The the top layer of plastic is red, rather than painted.
Any suggestions (I have tried car spoiler repair stuff and I am concerned with the effect paint will have)
