I have laminate countertops in my home and I want a change. Can I just have some new laminate placed over the top of the old one? I went to the "home" store and they said I hade to completely remove the old countertops. That just didnt sound right....I should be able to just glue the new laminate down on top.....right??????

I have two pine trees that I want to surround with various types of flower plants, (Hibbiscus, Ivy's, etc.) But should I buy mulch or fertilizer? I have some landscape fabric, but do I lay it down before or after the dirt? And how do I make sure that no weeds will grow?

Id like to know how much space I can add on to my house. I have 8 ft on the side of my house and would like to expand on the side and want to know where I can find info on how much space I need to have there. Do I get that info from the city planning? Or is it on a county level? Or a state level? Who should I approach for this kind of info? Im in Los Angeles County. Thanks!

Can I just put it in the washer w/some bleach and soap? It's clear (the curtain itself is white) and it's getting kind of moldy and mildewy. Is there a safe way to clean it? I already sprayed some Lysol on it. I tried to wipe it down and it didn't work. This kind of relates to one of my earlier questions. Thanks for the good advice, and thanks for not laughing at my stupid questions. :)

We're renting a house, moved here in Feb, used the heat till around April. Then switched to a/c when it started getting hot outside. Heat a/c worked fine all summer. Husband replaced the thermostat at the end of June because the arm/lever thingy you use to adjust the temperature was broken off before we moved in. So we've used the a/c all summer, no problems at all. Over the weekend it got cool, so I turned the heat on Saturday morning and after 2 hours of blowing cool air I realized the pilot light on the furnace needed to be lit. So when the handyman who has been painting the outside of the house for a couple of weeks came I asked him if he could light it. He said he'll call the landlord (his boss) to do it. It gets lit, heater works fine. Later yesterday afternoon it got hot outside so I turned on the a/c only to find that it blows warm/hot air, even all the way down to 45 degree. We've tried this 3 or 4 times since yest. afternoon and it still blows warm air. What is wrong?

The webbings look like a spider made them but they are really fine webbing, not like any spider webs i have ever seen. The webbing has all the leaves webbed together, not in a bunch, fanned out.

I reported it to my apartment complex on Saturday. Today they replaced the air filter and they came to see about the mold. I watched them the whole time they were here and they used white spray paint to cover up the mold that was showing on the vents. I have never had this problem before so I knows nothing about this. But is that how they were to take care of it. Should I report them. What should I do now? I also just renewed my lease. So I am pissed off right now and worried because I also have a 2 year old who I believe has been getting sick from it.

I have this friend you has a house thats over a hundred years old. The land is great but the house doesn't look very good and not a lot of room. The funds are kind of low so there really isn't much he can afford. If you add on and rebuild the house do you think it would be cheaper than just building a brand new one? The basement isn't very good either so how would that work?
