I want to remodel my bathroom, and the floor isn't level. I thought I heard of a product a while ago that you poured onto the floor and it would self-level it. I don't have a tonne of money, but the floor needs to be level.. can I do it without paying a contractor to come in and rip up my floor? Any ideas or suggestions?

I finally got around to pulling my family's guns out of storage before the winter hit. I was dissappointed to find that when my father took them and put them in there he neglected to have a moisture absorber put in the cabinet with them. I found one of our antique piece's sling covered in white mold. I was able to get the mold off of it, but there are still some significant mold stains on it. Its a light tan chamois color, so its extremely noticable, and when I clean it, the cleaner cannot discolor or stain it, this is a vintage 1800s piece, and the sling has been certified to be the original, and will reduce the value of it if it has to be removed.

Anyone have experience in leather cleaning?

In 2002, we added on another bedroom, livingroom, & bathroom to our home near Houston. The house is on blocks above the ground. I installed 2x8 floor joists with support @ 8' OC, then used chicken wire under the joists to keep the dogs out of the 6" R-22 fiberglass insulation installed between the joists, vapor barrier towards the floor. I then installed 3/4" CDX plywood directly to the floor joists. This was my work surface and we caught some rain during the dry-in period. (about 2 months) Then when we were ready, after texture and painting of the drywall, I installed 1/2" AC plywood over the subfloor to recieve the flooring. We chose an Armstrong peel and stick vinyl tile to lay over this 1/2" plywood. I prepared all the joints and nail holes w/floor stone. The room is cooled by a central A/C heat pump and has been kept around 70 degrees year round. The 1/2" subfloor has bubbled up all over. I have repaired some of the places w/screws. I need some help with this.

We rent a house with no central heating and we cannot add any form of permanent heating (i.e. night storage etc). With this in mind what is the best and most cost efficient way to heat it through the winter? We currently use Dimplex freestanding heaters and an oil fired radiator - but it is very expensive.

It looks like a braid or rope, but when you're ready to use it again, you just shake it out. I've done it before but I can't remember.

It seems everytime I open a door to my house a bunch of flies come in! I have a dog and I try my best to keep everything clean (including him) but no matter what I do I keep having fly problems. Can you suggest anything that might get rid of them? Also whats the best way to kill them once they are inside?

I have a serious problem with my neighbours. I live in the UK, and there is flat roofing adjoining our two houses. Their flat roof has deteriorated over a number of years, and is allowing water to leak into our house, not theirs. We have written confirmation of this from our insurers, who have said they will repair the damage done to our house, once the neighbours have repaired their roof.

Unfortunately, the neighbours are not cooperating. They claim they had their roof fixed not long ago (which is a lie), and dispute that this is their fault. They have refused to fix their roof. This first happened 2 years ago, and we let the matter drop because of a number of major personal problems at home.

The roof has started leaking again -badly. The damage is extensive, and the neighbours are still refusing to fix it. I have contacted my insurers who say again that the neighbours have to fix their roof first, but they cant enforce anything.
What do I do? Where do I stand legally?

I am buying a lot to build a house on in a new subdivision. I am supposed to close on the loan tomorrow. I went out today to take one last look at the lot. Now there is a big (3'x3'x4') green electrical box sitting on the corner in front of where my house will be. This is a corner lot and this box is the first thing people will see as they drive up to my house. Is there anything I can do about this? Can I make them put it in the backyard? This utility was installed by the developer.
