I've been rebuilding a 100 yr old trunk and the hinges are in good shape but badly tarnished, I've tried Brasso cleaner and scrubbing with a coarse sponge but no luck. I've seen on TV a product that supposedly cleans jewelry and things that are tarnished but not a clue what it is called? Any help would be greatly appreciated on ideas to help clean up the handles.
thank you

I am having all my windows replaced in my house and my big picture window to be turned into a sliding glass door. These are my options.
Should I go with a home improvement company that has been in business 28 years and will have the work done in about 2-3 days and warranty's everything for 50 years. Cost about 15,000
Should I go with a friend of the family that has his own home improvement business. He put in a cement floor in my parents polebarn with about 4 other guys. Saved my parents a couple thousand and did a decent job I thought. But no warrenty and may take longer but is probably cheaper than the first company.
Or I can get some Amish people to come in and put windows in that I buy. I was told I could save a considerable amount of money and hear the job will be good quality. But may take longer.
Any advice would be appreciated!

Open pallet for landscaping that is wooded and very wet. I have also seen deer tracks, so I need things that are deer repellent. There is standing water that I would like to try minimize with planting and or stone. It is filtered, limited sun area. I am planning on putting up a privacy fence to the wood line then continuing with a chain link in the woods (needed to for my dogs). Any ideas

This tree (a colorado spruce, I think) is around 40 feet high now. It's been turning brown gradually in the past 2 years. At first, I thought it was due to the inner needles turning brown, (die back?) but it has extended up the tree about 1/4 of the way up to the top. The branches still have some tufts of blue-green needles at the tips though. The upper branches are completely normal. The resin drips from the inner portion of the branches and from the trunk when we tried to help it by trimming the dead branches. A tree person came by recently and said there is a fungal infection. But he didn't make any predictions on how likely we are to save it.

We are doing our best to give it more fertilizers and water. We live in the San Francisco area, so the heat waves we've had this summer aren't helping.

Is there anything else we can try? How likely is it that more water and nutrition would work at this stage?

It's a poured concrete floor and the house is only a year old. There are no obvious cracks and the wet spot is confined to one small area. What is weird is that the spot surrounds one of my floor drains. I uncovered the drain and stuck a long screwdriver down it, and it was dry. If I painted the floor with drylock, will that help, or just divert the water somewhere else? Any suggestions?

I just bought a house and all the walls and ceilings are textured. I liked it at first, but now it's annoying and I want to get rid of it. What would be cheapest, easiest, and less time consuming... chipping off the plaster, priming and painting it smooth, or just ripping it all down and re-drywalling? I know that chipping it would be cheaper, but what kind of problems would I be running into if I did that?

I signed the papers, the MOrtg.co signed and mailed back to me. now they say *(mort.co) they changed their mind. who can i call. I really think what happend is my Mort co never filed the papers with HUD after they were signed & approved. and they just noticed that. I need to talk to someone at HUD and get a straight answer.

You will find info on the web that says you can kill mold with bleach and, to the contrary, information about it being ineffective, with reasons why. How do i get rid of or kill mildew in a carpet without putting in new carpet? What about the stains on the ceiling? What is the difference between mildew, mildew stains, and mold in a house?
