Poisonous Part
All parts.
Symptoms
Burning of lips and mouth, numbness of throat; intense vomiting and diarrhea, muscular weakness and spasms, weak pulse, paralysis of the respiratory system, convulsions; fatal.
Toxic Principle
Alkaloids delphinine, ajacine, and others.
Severity
HIGHLY TOXIC, MAY BE FATAL IF EATEN!

Yes they are. While working with delphiniums once, I developed a skin rash, nothing too severe, but I am sure different people react differently to the toxins in the plant. I just wore gloves when I had to deal with the plants!

Larkspur (Delphinium ajacis) Seeds and leaves are poisonous. Sap in the foliage may cause skin irritation.
But they sure are beutiful and I have tried for years to perfect my growing of them - while I was living in Canada.

Yes, Dephiniums also know as larkspur are poisonous to eat.
