All you should use is a sledge hammer, if it is up to 6 inches thick. Any thicker you will want to use a jack hammer. If you are trying to get a fairly clean cut to go across, you will wanna get a brick set or a mason chisel and a heavy mallet to score a deep line to go across the concrete. But again, this is only if the concrete is up to 6 inches thick. Hopefully it is a standard 4 inches thick, which will bea fairly easy to do. Once you have your line scored, you will wanna go to town on it with a sledge hammer. Dont forget to wear some GOOD gloves, your hands will totally thank you, also no rings, or watches. and of course dont forget, wear goggles.

Drill holes 6 inches or so across and down with a 1/2 inch concret bit and a hammer drill at least half way through it. One hit with a sledge hammer after the holes are drilled and its over.

They also sell blades for concrete that go in circular saws. I've gotten them for as little as $10 to $15. If the concrete is thin enough you may be able to cut it out with a circular saw; or atleast score lines for a cleaner/easier breakup.

You can use a sledge hammer if you like. It's not too bad unless the concrete is a foot thick.

Explosives? or rent a jackhammer. Not sure what a "jackhatter" would accomplish.

alot of rental places have electric "jackhatters" :-P they work well and if you have much to do it will really be worth it unless you just want to smash something with a sledge which is great fun and good way to get out frustrastion
