jennifer convertibles! i have had the same one for about 10 years now. granted it doesn't get slept on more than 12-16 times a year but.... it's outstanding. it's actually a queen and down filled cushions -- i love it and it's made it through a couple moves and a flood! granted the flood didn't get to the cushions but still ; ) they have all types too. tried numbers of others and they were great!
the other option - the aerobeds - my folks are in their 70's adn i got them one becuase of some damage to their little cabin and they were floored at how comfortable and easy to use it was.

i suggest finding a couch with a european sleeper in it..they are much better than sofa beds..
they are found mostly in couches with chase loungers on the end.
they are waaaay more comfy. they just pull out another section just like the couch and it makes about a dboule size bed going the length of the couch instead of pulling out into a bed the opposite way.
i LOOOOOOOVVE mine and it's super comfy.
however, the thing to make sure is that whe you pull the slepper part of it out the regular part of the couch is supported enough to to be used.. and be sure that it's still comfy..

I don't know but our daughter had one we slept on this summer and she added a thin sponge matress that was rolled up that they use for camping they bought from the store in Maine that never closes...I have a mental block right now. The one that sells rugged clothing and shoes and sporting goods. Well, anyhow it was wonderful. Better than the bed was the yr. before.

i have a futon that converts from a bed into a couch. it is very comfortable. they come in different sizes to fit different spaces and are much easier to get up and down a flight of stairs or thru a doorway. as for a brand name, i can't help you there.
