The venus fly trap is a carnivorous plant. It can move because its leaves have a complex system of water pipes that use water pressure to hole the fly-eating leaves open. when the fly trips a " trigger" the water flows down the stem and the leaf closes on the fly, digesting it.

It is a plant that is carnivorous which means it eats meat. They like flies hense the name. Very cool t o watch. Used to grow them for resale in our greenhouse business. My 4 yr. old would go around and poke them with a stick to watch them close up. They are becoming extinct because of people going in and digging them out to sell. So, be aware of that.
