Fingernail polish remover was accidentally placed on varnish & removed the shine in a small spot about an inch circle. Would like to be able to just touch up & not refinish entire coffee table. Any ideas?

If it is just the shine you can bring it back by applying high gloss tung oil. Use a lint free cloth to rub it into the affected spot. Let it dry at least 24 hours.

I made the horrible mistake of doing that at the age of 13. I sanded the area down just a tiny tiny bit, colored it in with a brown permanent marker (assuming your table is brown) and you can buy small bottles of varnish at home improvement stores. Good luck!

This reminds me I have some wood repair to do on a table that got scratched when my stupid exboyfriend swung around in the swivel rocker and scratched the crap out of the side...I hate him. That table cost a fortune.

If there are any rough edges you may want to smoothe them with a scrubber, kitchen one maybe? then use crayon, shoe polish or the hardware store sells pencils that have stain in them to touch up with. Depends on how far you want to go. Some furniture polish has color..old english I think. good luck
