The trimmers/blowers are made by MTD and poulan (poulan is a electrolux brand) But mtd is not.
The mowers are all AYP (owned by electrolux) which owns weedeater and husqvarna (which you may see being sold there)...
They mostly used tecumsehs and briggs... but it has switched to more briggs, some hondas and kohlers... You will see the kohlers on riding mowers along with briggs..., couple hondas with a few briggs and maybe a tecumseh or two....

As middy says...Craftsman is a Sears name...over the years they have used many different manufactures to build everything mechanical for them. It generally goes to the lowest bidder for an item. For instance most of their Kenmore W/D's are made by Maytag. The same for their refrigerators.

For many years Sears lawnmowers used Briggs-Stratton engines bolted to a number of different platforms. Today they use mostly Honda engines bolted to many of the same platforms.

To know the maker of your particular mower, you need to consult a Sears Repair Center. They can generally tell you the manufacture of a particular piece of equipment.

Craftsman is a Sears only brand, a name used on a wide variety of Sears products for many years.
