We have a compost bin and there are thousands of maggots wiggling on the top. Generally we dump our food scraps daily and turn the pile weekly (or so). So we have live ones on top and dead ones throughout.

On that same thought - does anyone have problems with cockroaches and a compost pile? I haven't seen them lurking around ours yet... but wouldn't be surprised.
Thanks.

Calcium deposits are beginning to show (hard water problem). Is vinegar and water acceptable, or is there a special cleaner for gold-plated stuff?

We had some low spots under our deck, so we added some dirt there to improve the grading, but it's coming very close to the siding on the house. Is this a problem? There is no mulch involved and we're assuming that the dirt will settle lower over time.

This morning I found that my huge new Sam's Club bottle of laundry detergent fell off the shelf and exploded all over the laminate floor in my laundry room. Now I have 1/2 inch of detergent all over my floor. What is the best way to tackle this kind of mess?

So my condo neighbors are smokers and the smell has started to recently drift into my spare room, bathroom and kitchen. How do I get rid of the smell? Febreeze only makes it smell like flowers and cigarettes. How can I politely tell them my problem? We've never talked. I would hate to bring it to the condo board and have them involved.

My daddy just bought me a townhouse in the city...and I hate the granite countertops. They are like the cheap granite.
And the marble floors are too hard. plus there is no garage and I cant leave my BMW out in the rain.I dont really like the house that much and i just dont have the heart to tell him.
What should i do?

I live out in the country so I can't do anything about them running wild, as there is no law about that. I tried putting rocks in the bottom of the can, but this is a BIG dog! The dog knocks over the can and scatters my trash all over the road and the yard! I am so tired of cleaning up after someone else's dog getting in my trash!

I'm trying to sell my home in Massachusetts. I'm looking for as many ways as possible to advertise it without involving a realtor. If anyone knows the best and least expensive way to accomplish this, please let me know. Thanks in advance.
