Contact your county agriculture extension office. I believe they will send someone to treat your yard.

I'm sure you know the saying to kill the queen and kill the mound. Ambro is the only substance I found to help at all. For the last few years, we have our house and property sprayed for pests and the yard chemically treated for a health lawn (TruGreen, I think) and we've not had ant problems since.

You're gonna have to treat the whole yard, not just the mounds. You can either call a professional, or you can find a Do-It-Yourself-Pest Control Store. Tell them the problem and they'll sell you the proper stuff. You can spread it over larger areas using a fertilizer spreader.

Fire ants as in those awful things in Florida? Scientists went to South America to find out why fire ants don't spread so badly down there. What they found was a natural predator - some sort of insect that they brought back to the US and released. Maybe you could get hold of some of those.

U should treat your entire yard with any type granual fireant killer to get rid of them.. As to pippi making the statement to poor water on them it just pisses them off and they build a bigger nest with 10's of thousand's more ant's.. Do the whole lawn a few times a yr and that should get rid of them. I live in central texas and do this yearly to keep them out of the lawn.. They are not as new to the US as some might think though, we have had them here for 20+ yrs now...

Try the ant & bug killer you broadcast like a fertilizer...all over the yard. Sevin, Amdro, Spectracide, etc....all make good products that have worked for me in the past. Home Depot & Lowes all sell them.

Fire Ants are new to our country and we have to report any finds to the local government authorities, they then come out and treat the infestations to stop them from spreading....we believe they came into this country via shipping containers....

I have heard that you can put corn meal down the hole and that, that will get rid of them. They eat it then water. The meal swells up inside them and kills them. It's cheap, legal and won't kill any passing pets. If I were you I'd give it a try.

You need to get rid of the queen. When it is cold and they are not moving too good dig down in and soak the area with diesel fuel. Once you get that burning you will get rid of them.
