I met with a professional today to look at our 1928 plaster wall 3 story, hw boiler, partial attic, stucco exterior house. He came up with a solution using high velocity air which requires only about 3" flexible duct in the majority of the house and a dehumidifyer in 1/2 of bsmt which we couldn't figure out how to get the ductwork to from the proposed attic air handler hence the seperate systen in that 1/2 of the basement. The basement floor is slabe on grade concrete and the ceiling is spancrete Our main goals is to "clean" the air, my wife and I have allergies and there is a mildew smell in the basement. I asked him to price in a UV filter as well to kill dust mites, mold and mildew.

I would like to paint my master bedroom, and was thinking of a olive green! My furniture is large and room is not that bright! My color scheme that I have going on is dark purple accented with an antique green/gold color! The room is dark as I have only an atrium door that provides day light. The walls are currently eggshell and I want to liven the room up with color! HELP!

I am priming my bathroom wall (over old paint), and I've tried a couple different rollers but they still shed. I've heard of home remedies to prevent this but don't know what they are. Can anyone help?

I've had the same CO detector in my home for many years now, perhaps more than 7 years. The lights work (both POWER and CAUTION) and every time I press the TEST button it lets out the loud beep that it should when CO is in the air. My concern, however, is whether or not the detector is still as functional as it was when it was purchased.
Granted, I've been using the same smoke detector for 20 years and it seems to work A-OK, but are CO detectors any different?

We keep our house fairly clean, but recently, many gnats have appeared, flying around the house. They aren't in bunches like you would find them outside, but alone. Could there be some animal or spoiled food in my house that is causing them to come in?

My husband & I have lived here for 2 years and since then the house next door has been an eyesore as it has been abandoned for that whole time. Now the town tells the owner to display signs that it's a dangerous property with "No Trespassing" signs. Well, today I find a sign in my back yard! It is his fence I guess but we have been maintaining it over the past 2 years...it fell apart a few times so we bought new lumber and fixed it up. I called the police to see if I can remove the sign from our back yard and they said "it's their fence so he can do whatever he wants". So, we are STUCK with this awful "No Trespassing" sign directly in our nice and tidy back yard. We can put up another fence but it will cost us $ we don't have. The worst part is that we are selling our house and potential buyers see this ugly sign. Argh it's frustrating! Husband says he's taking it down. I said we can't since I called the police and they said no. Would you take it down or relax about it?
