Has anyone ever heard of the brand called Lux? It's damn expensive, and can be bought through the company's "local representatives" that visit you in your home and present the vacuum cleaner for you. Is it worth the price?

electro lux is definately one of the best vacuums ever made and will probably last forever if taken care of properly. kirby is also another, probably about the same price and sold the same way. IN home. but either or ia worth the price, they definately are not hoovers.

i used consumer reports to choose my last vacuum two years ago. in our home we have ceramic tile, marble and mostly carpet. I had a golden retriever and a picky husband. They recommended the eureka boss 4870 (about $140 at walmart.com) I like it. One drawback, it uses bags, but I don't care to have dust flying in my clean house so I am fine with that. Consumer reports does not recommend Dyson.

Sebo dart is the best we have ever used. We have had all the other makes including Dyson and this knocks spots off them all. It is used by many professional carpet cleaners

I find my Dyson very cumbersome and heavy. Too gadgetty too but it does suck and you can see exactly what you are pulling out of the carpet.

I love my dirt devil work s really well and i also have a kirby so what dirt devil does not get i use the dirt devil.
