I call it a shrub. It has lance-shaped leafs with smooth edges and opposite veins. The leaves are dark green.

It produces elongated spiky clusters of small whitish flowers. The flowers turn into elongated clusters of small bright green pre-fruits that kind of resemble the small decorative roundish/ridged squashes/gourds that you buy for halloween/thanksgiving displays.
These pre-fruits turn into fleshy, round, smooth berries that are a dark reddish-purple in color, one berry per spike on this elongated cluster 3-5 inches long. Quite spectacular-looking.

The deer love it. Here's the kicker: the stem is woody, but hollow.

I'm not certain if it's native or introduced. I saw one growing under sumacs in my back yard, and one started growing in an open former garden enclosure and has become almost tree-like, 6-7 feet tall and covering an area about six feet in diameter.

The trench that runs around the perimeter of the basement is dry except for the south wall. That trench always has water in it, but doesn't overflow when its rainy and wet. The crock has 3 holes that empty into it. The lowest hole seems to always have water flowing from it, slowly. The other two do too, but not as much ,but they sit higher in the crock. Is the water in the south trench normal or could something be blocked? I am not sure how the whole "floating slab" thing works.

I am looking for a long handled broom to sweep the cobwebs from my 14 ft ceilings. I bought my last one several years ago and can no longer find them. Research on the net has not given me any leads. Does anyone know where I can purchase a broom with an 8-10 ft handle?

I've gone thru several kinds and at least a dozen sprinkler heads in as many months. They either stop working, fall apart, jamb, won't spin or any number of problems. I am more concerned with the type that does the long feed in spurts (similar to those one would see on the freeway landscape or at large nurseries), but I can use the other types as well. The junk they sell at Home Depot and Lowes is mostly made in China and good for less than two months, as a rule. Websites, references, anything?? Desperate!!!

we had a drain pipe that was leaking... The top of our ceilng needs to be dried out and possible mold growth is possible. Maintence had drilled a few hold in the ceiling, and one large hold to fix the pipe. I have a fan in the access point...

-----Would it be a good idea to aim a space heater in this area also. I was told that this would make it worse???? ------

The ceiling light is moldy- so im sure the ceiling cant be any better...

Thanks!!!

I am wondering if I can save money using plywood as a subfloor for tile. It is new construction with a new floor of 3/4 inch compressed wood type of plywood. I have a lot of area to cover and thought I could limit the Hardiboard to the bathrooms and cheaper plywood for the rest. It is my home and I need it to last. Is it a bad idea? My contractor wants Hardiboard everywhere. Thanks for input!

I just built a deck with PT lumber and would like to eventually paint it. I heard that you must wait a long time before painting PT lumber, so it will dry.
