I am renting a house and the bathroom floor is rotting away. They are going to put in a new floor and tub, but I will be with out a bathroom for at least a week. Does the landlord have a responsibility to put my 2 year old son and I in a motel?

In California law, if the landlord decides to keep the lease or rental agreement alive during repairs, you won't have to pay the landlord rent while you're living elsewhere, but you also won't get rental assistance from the landlord if your replacement housing is more expensive than your regular rent.

Also, Chapter 6.1 (commencing with Section 50651 of the Health and Safety Code) provides new remedies that require owners of residential rental property, whose tenants are displaced by housing code enforcement activities, to pay relocation benefits to the tenants under specified conditions.

they are supposed to provide temp housing for the time you can not live in your house.it really should not take a week to repair this problem, if the worker order the tub ahead, they have to take it out, remove the flooring and underlayment, let it air out for a day and the second day lay the flooring down and install the tub and do the plumbing. the most you would be out of house would be three days.........

It should not take a week to replace a bathroom floor. That is a one day job taking a lot of breaks. Having said that. It all depends on the state laws in your state.

Depends on your state law...Look up your tenant rights...I would say yes..I know when we were renters and our roof was leaking he was responsible for putting us up in a hotel until it was fixed....It was considered unlivable....And to not have a tub or bathroom i would say DEFINTLY!!!!!
