I read the symptoms for Major Depressive Disorder, from this link, http://answers.yahoo.com/question/?qid=20070411151501AAZbuhh&grp_name=Men_overcoming_depression&grp_spid=1601040823&grp_cat=/Health___Wellness/Support/Diseases_and_Conditions/Mental_Health_Disorders/Mood_Disorders/Depressive_Disorders&grp_user=0 , and I have all of the normal symptoms and some of the severe symptoms as well. I am currently unemployed and the bills are stacking up, I have no health insurance and everyday is a struggle to try and look for a job, does anyone have any suggestions for help that for the moment doesnt involve professional health care? Any thoughts, suggestions or comments would be GREATLY appreciated.

When you're upset, what do you consciously think of to make yourself feel better? I mean specifically: describe a scenario, a memory from childhood, a fantasy and dream of the future, or an idea of a fireplace from books-- what do you conjure up in your mind to keep going and cheer yourself up?

I am female 50 years old,due to a psychotic episode I lost my home, my dog and all my possessions. I spent 10 months in a psychiatric hospital (mainly due to being homeless) I got an house got in with some wrong people and lost that house also. I wandered the sreets, totally disconnected from reality...spent time in 'dodgy peoples' houses had some horrendous experiences and ended up in an hostel. I got a supported accommodation bedsit..deeply depressed and the building was fullof drug users and even a murder happened. Presently staying with a fried but still deeply depressed on anti-depressants that I feel are lifting me a little. How the hell do I start again..I had a beautiful home in an area I loved everything was perfect..now nothing feels worthwhile..I wish I was out of it all....I need to either die or do something...I want my past back and that is crucyfying me....Any help appreciated.

Thank you

I think I have been depressed for about seven years. It used to come and go, but now it's always lingering. I've also been recently considering suicide(I'm not sure if that's related).I don't really know what kind of doctor to go see. Or even if my insurance will cover treatment if I need it. i need help.
