Depending on a number of factors, yes. It should be noted that it will take several weeks for prozac to actually begin to work, and that many people do suffer side effects(nausea etc) during this period - these will usually last only a (relatively)short time, so unless you suffer a serious reaction to the medictaion, you should jus try and wait it out, and continue taking it.
The medication on it's own won't magically make you happy, but it will relieve some of the worst symptoms of depression and help lift your mood. It will require a certain amount of positive attitude from the patient to work really well.

There is a book "Listening to Prozac" that you may want to read. I have ADD and PTSD, I take Prozac every morning when I wake up. I function far better than I used to. I also have less bouts of anger. I was virtually abnormal until I went on the Prozac. I would blow up, scream at people, blame them for my insecurities. Those same people I abused verbally now hang around and call me friend. So functioning on a normal basis is wonderful thanks to Prozac

I am on a high dosage of anti-depressants (not Zoloft or Prozac) and I function extremely well. You wouldn't even know it unless I told you. It just keeps my mood stabilized and assists in counteracting the effects of another medication.

Yes as long as they work right for you and are used as directed by a doctor. My advice would be to treated by a psychologist as well as you D.R. A psychologist will keep a close eye on you during your treatment and can help you sort things to find out why you need to take these medications. Watch for side affects and if you feel suicidal call doctor right away or go to the hospital. I have used Zoloft twice in my live for a year or 2 at a time under therapist's care and it worked great for me and I didn't have any weight gain.

If the medicine is working as it should, then it will help them to be ABLE to function just fine...or at least as well as most people do in day-to-day living.

Think of it in terms of someone with allergies taking an antihistimine, or perhaps a diabetic taking insulin.

Can they function normally with their medication? If it is the right medicine, and correctly prescribed...AND barring any other reasons why they may might be having difficulty, then the answer is YES ..yes...and yes!

You're packin' fudge and worried about other people being "normal"? Question; Can people like Ben Stiller and Nathan Lane function normally day to day while packin' fudge? Prozac is the least of your concerns.

nope. they are buried in the drug. they are actually a liability to any organization until they handle the problem instead of the symptom. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b30iwhEw9ho&eurl=http%3A%2F%2Fprofile%2Emyspace%2Ecom%2Findex%2Ecfm%3Ffuseaction%3Duser%2Eviewprofile%26friendid%3D55073312
