I've tried everything. Massages from friends, rolling on a ball to try and work it out. When those didn't work for me a heating pad has always worked in the past, but not this time. I woke up in pain today, and it'll just randomly start aching during the day. Is there anything else I can do or should I go see my chiropractor?

(in the sacroiliac area) for five years. She went to her GP and was eventually referred for physiotherapy, which didn't help. She also had private acupuncture, which again did little to help. She's ok when moving around, but the sitting position is very painful. Things were starting to improve, when she stepped heavily and awkwardly off a kerb a couple of weeks ago when crossing the road - jarring her back very painfully once again. She feels she's now back to square one. If you've used an osteopath, did it help you. My friend is concerned because she has osteoporosis. G.Ps seem to know very little about back pain, and usually just prescribe anti-inflammatory tablets.

I have had back trouble for yrs up to the point where I had a prolapsed disc last yr which left my left calf & foot numb. I have been able to cope without an op but over the last few wks I have had pains in my back & down my right leg. Last night the pain was severe & this morn my right calf & right foot appear to be going numb & my right leg feels as if it might give way on me (although this hasn't actually happened). I would prefer not to hav an op but I am worried about how bad the numbness can get & what happens if my leg does give way on me, would it be permanent or can it be 'fixed'? The pain is worse when i sit down, more so round the calf.
Any advice on pain relief would be a great help. I am currently taking anti-inflamatories & tramadol. Lyrica has helped me before but it put on a lot of weight which just added to the prob in the long run. I have since lost the weight again & dont want to put it back on by taking medication which might do so.
Any help would be appreciated

I had a weird pain in the right side of my throat for about a week & it doesnt hurt to swallow food or drink anything but it hurts when I swallow my saliva or do the swallowing motion with nothing. Then it progressed to not so much a pain but like a lump feeling when i did it & all the sudden today its on the left side & it hurts a bit more than right did but the right seems to have gone away or I cant feel it over the left side pain. Still doesnthurt when i eat or drink but again it hurts when i swallow saliva or do the swallowing motion. Also I cant open my mouth all the way without a sharp lasting pain in the righ side of my jaw joint. So i cant look at my tonsils cause I cant open my mouth that far for too long before the jaw pain. Also the jaw pain has been lkike that for years.

the bottom disc in my back is in deterioation, and so is the discs at L4 L5. This is hereditory. Every time I move the pain shoots right through me. I am getting so fed up with it. I cant take anything stronger than panadine forte and cant have anti inflamitriesm creams, injections as Im on warfarin I shuffle when walking as my legs are stiff and so sore.My Dr was going to send me to a musculoskeletal Dr, but being on the pension I cant afford it as my pension is affected by exchange rates, and I never get the same amount each fortnight it varies. The only thing that helps my pain is lying down, so I sleep a lot. The pain is so exhausting and tiring its also depressing.

Does making my foot numb cause any long term damge? It goes numb through the prevention of circulation, when i sit with my left leg over my right thigh. It doesn't really hurt, I just feel the fun tingling sensation of the blood rushing through after i let it free.

It's been over a year and a half since my foot was run over by a pallet jack, working in a warehouse temporarily. The doctors have run nerve conductivity tests, MRI's, x-rays, everything under the sun and cannot find out the problem. I am not able to walk on my entire foot, just between the 4th and 5th metetarsil (sp?) the nerve is very sensitive and stings or gives a "stepping on a nail" sensation. I also have difficulty sleeping on my right side. I currently take approx. 4, 7.5mg hydrocodones a day to cope with the pain. They are telling me this pain is something I will most likely have to live with. We've tried accupuncture... everything... I'm exhausted, but didn't know if anyone made had any thoughts... thanks for your help.

so my sister wants to know if she gives me her prescription if I can fill it for her at our pharmacy. (she was prescribed Hydrocodone 500/5 and Penicillin) she has an absess tooth, and to top it off, moderate leg pain. I thought this was impossible, but I know my cousin picks up her father's meds and sister's on occasion for them. is it possible for her to call in or something similar? thanks for any help :)

I have severe pain in my right elbow and later it progressed to the left elbow. At first I thought it was as a result of using eliptical cardio machine. An x-ray revealed some calcium deposit on both elbows. I've been very active for about 15 years and this includes hardcore bodybuilding. What could have caused this ailment and what's the cure. My doctor prescribed Dicloflenac cream and tablet but it just helps control the pain to some extent. I stopped lifting weight for about a month but there was no improvement so I continued to lift again. Do you think weightlifting is doing me more harm. Lifting or not lifting does not change the level of my pain. Does anybody know where I can get some help?

I'm so tired of this..I have two protruding disks pinching my spinal cord and my life is being deprived. Everything I want to do or used to enjoy doing is now a huge struggle and sends shooting pains through my lower back and right leg. I want to be happy again. i want to be able to sit on the couch and be comfortable. I want to cuddle with my boyfriend and not feel my leg tingling and throbbing. I want this pain to go away. I want people to understand the pain and talk to me. I feel alone. I feel like this issue is changing me.. transforming me into a hateful negative person. Physical Therapy is getting worse.. Is Surgery the answer?

My dad, 45 years old, was almost paralyzed after falling 14 feet into a concrete basement while working at a construction site. My dad suffered sever permanent injuries to his back, including some that crushed many disks in between his spine. I have heard many great things about Acupressure therapy and its' healing abilities. Is there any form of acupressure or massage that we could try with my dad to releive his pain? And to top it off my dad has arthritis in his back and the cold weather takes a terrible toll on his back. So anything will be greatly appreciated.

I had an abdominal hysterectomy 3 months ago and I still have a lot of discomfort in my abdomin and the large horizontal incision is still very sensitive and hurts if I push down on it. Does that seem to be the case with anyone who has had this surgery. My doctor says it is normal but several people told me they didn't have any pain by the time 3 months rolled around.
