I've tried everything. Massages from friends, rolling on a ball to try and work it out. When those didn't work for me a heating pad has always worked in the past, but not this time. I woke up in pain today, and it'll just randomly start aching during the day. Is there anything else I can do or should I go see my chiropractor?

I do have minor scoliosis due to my leg not being in the hip socket correctly and therefor making my hips crooked and my spine to grow curved. My leg is in there properly now but my spine is still curved a bit at the base. That's why I had seen a chiropractor before and I suggested that over a doctor. However I do think these knots are caused by stress and posture. I just want to figure out how to make it go away.

No need for a chiropractor unless you are getting headaches too.
1) You need to learn how to keep your upper back & shoulders relaxed, no hunching.
2) See a message therapist at least once a week.
3) Use a topical ointment (Biofreeze is a great product)

Before rushing off to a chiropractor I'd see my family doctor first, He'll want to take some X-Rays or MRI's to see what's going on in there. Rushing off to a chiropractor is like letting the horse out before the doors open, one thing at a time.
You could have a muscle problem, a kidney or even a liver problem. Check with your doctor first.

Kate,
It sounds like you are experiencing muscular cramping and/or spasms resulting from tension and incorrect posture. This possibly along with a diet insufficient for sources of potassium, magnesium and calcium. If you are having to sit for several hours a day, always be checking that you are keeping the back straight with shoulders held back. Be sure that the chair cushion has not become distorted, throwing your back out of alignment. Take a short break every hour or so, if for no more than to stand, stretch, and flex the back for a minute or so.
Check out these ideas, including dietary needs, for this might do what you want.
