Didn't you have your tonsils out just about a month ago? You are probably still a bit sensitive in the throat department. Try laying off the dairy products, which will help with not wanting to clear your throat. But do drink lots of very cold liquids, or at least suck on some hard candy. That will moisten your throat to help it not be quite so scratchy and sore. If you have a runny nose, or a stuffy nose, take something to help with that. The gunk running down your throat when you lie down will also make you want to gag. Stick with soft foods and stuff like soup that will slide down past the sore spots. Lower the temperature in your bedroom, cool air is easier to breathe as well. And take some of your favorite over the counter pain remedy for the general misery. If things are really still bugging you that bad this far out after surgery, then go back to see the doctor again. It just takes a bit sometimes for things to heal and settle back down, that's all. No need to panic.

How long ago did the tonsils come out? give it time, to six weeks or more. It's also the cold season and flu. Keep yourself inside a lot during the cold weather and dampness. Eat jello, soft foods for now, lots of ice cream, etc. Stay away from hard things to eat, cut your portions smaller.
