i got cast with no need for surgery. broken wrist care info from er was basic & generic but not great & office that put cast on didnt send any printed info home on how to care for broken wrist. they just gave appt date for next thurs.
it been 14 yrs since i skated last & i'm not sure i'm getting on skates again maybe if i wear expensive wrist guards. i dont like the modern skate music much anyhow its ok but different.
by the way the percoset & ibuprophen are doing much for pain & i can barely feel the ice through cast when i apply ice fro 15min.
are there any natural anti inflammatories / pain killers to reduce swelling?
i'd try searching myself it would take forever with 1 finger besides computer posture aint best for broken wrist right now. lol.

hi. i have had impingement syndrome in both of my shoulders for the last year and a bit. i've been to over 10 physio therapy sessions and am doing the exercises on a daily basis. i'm 15 years old and play a lot of rugby. i can't do press ups or bench press any amount of wait. i really need this to clear up so i can build some muscle and play properly. does anybody have any ideas about what i can do to heal this?

I have a few sprain injuries that ache from time to time. Two are from high school where I once sprained my ring finger (10 years ago) and my left ankle (9 years ago) and then the other is from a little more than a year ago when I sprained the top of my foot. Sometimes they ache, and my foot just downright hurts from time to time.

Anyone else experience this with old sprain injuries?

I went to the ER about my foot but not the other two cases if that helps.

The pain was intense for the first 5 minutes, then subsided, but the swelling was great. It happened on the outside of my ankle, now both sides are swollen. Bruising left a few weeks ago. There is minimal tightness now and very little discomfort, however the swelling just won't go all the way down. Could this just be a 3rd degree sprain and I'm being to impatient for it to fully heal? In the past when I've sprained an ankle, it's never taken this long, although the pain was greater this time.

A hammer just fell on my partner's forehead from 6 feet hight. He has a massive swelling (gold ball size) and was bleeding all over his face. He refuses to go to a doctor and I called nhsdirect, but they refused to give any advice until he is back with me (he is at his grandmoteher's house now).
I know that such accidents can be veryu dangerous, he might have a fractured skull or a concussion or some form of lesion, please someone help me to convince him that he needs to see a doctor.

im one hell of a klutz... whenever i injure my arm on a door, my elbow on a chair, my hand on the corner of a table, my finger on a lock of some sort or whatever, i noticed that whenever my boyfriend kisses the injured body part, the pain seems to go away... is there any scientific explanation to it or is it possible that it's just all in my head?
*note: my boyfriend's not the only one who kisses my so called boo-boos... it started with my mom ever since i was a kid... and i really do feel that the pain disappears..

Well, I stepped on a nail yesterday. My aunt is a nurse and she said that if I've had a tetanus shot in the past 10 years, then i dont need one. I had one back in 1998. I dont need another one, do I?

Yesterday, I stepped off an unexpectedly deep curp and my ankle gave out. I remeber I heard something, but I cant remember if it was a snap or a pop. It hurt really badly, so much that I couldnt cry, and I couldnt move it at all. I have already weak ankles, and when my dad lifted me up, my ankle wouldnt support my weight. It was his birthday, and i didnt want to ruin it, so I hobbled into a mexican restaurant, mainly just hopping on my right foot, and dragging my left behind. I came home, took some ibuprofen, and elevated it with ice on it, but it was still swollen when I went to bed. Then this morning, I woke up, and I couldnt do a thing with my ankle. I ended up getting some crutches. I couldnt keep my balance very well and I had to use my hurt ankle to support me a couple times, which didnt work well. I've had it wrapped up with ice for hours and it finally looks like the swelling is going down. It still hurts like mad though. Do you think its a sprain or do I need to go to the ER?

So my mother was trying to open a package with kitchen shears and they slipped and she kinda stabbed her thumb. The cut wasn't too deep but enough that it didn't count as a slice. She kept her arm raised above her head for the next 10 minutes until she finally said she felt like she was going to faint. She lost very little blood so what was the reason she felt as though she was going to faint. Was it possible shock, or could it have been a chemical produced by the body to aid the injury in some way that causes a faint effect? Please be descriptive... if it is because of a chemical, what is the chemical? Thank you!

My school requires a doctor's note to get out of gym class. I know this because I started school with a badly sprained ankle from playing soccer for the school and I told him that the school's sports injury person said I can't do anything and the teacher said, "Can you walk on it?" and I said, "Barely" and I was forced to participate. Well, I've sprained my other ankle now, (playing soccer, it had almost healed when I re-sprained it last gym class, right at the end of the class), badly, and my parents can't get me to our doctor before my next gym class. Does anyone know of a good way of missing class without getting a zero for not participating? I really would like to miss gym, maybe only once or twice so that it can heal well. I actually like gym and stuff, I just can barely walk now and trying to jog or play basketball would not bode well for a healing ankle.
Thanks, Sean

I hurt my back shoveling today, I always do when I shovel but I have no choice, no one is going to do it for me, except for my dad but he is 75, I don't want him doing that hard work, anyways I was telling my friend (who is about 13 years older than me) about it and she said that I should go see a chiropractor cause someone my age (I'm 34) should be able to shovel without hurting their back, is she right, should I go see a chiropractor

Should i worry to much about a small dark spot under my finger nail ? I doesn't hurt at all when touched, but over the past three days, it now turned into a blackish-purplish color. It looks like a bacterial infection. I should be fine as long as i clean it with an antiseptic such as ointment, right ?

i fractured my pinky at the base of my pinky (not in the hand) and got a cast on my pinky ring finger and hand for three weeks. I got it off then a day or 2 later my ring finger started to hurt. Is it just sore from being in the cast or is it hurt?

Thanks

I punched a wall (seem to have anger management issues) and hurt my knuckle. Can still move my fingers easily but there's a pain between my first two fingers and a numbness in my index finger. Do you think it may be broken or just sprained/something else?

And yeah I know I'm stupid.
