im one hell of a klutz... whenever i injure my arm on a door, my elbow on a chair, my hand on the corner of a table, my finger on a lock of some sort or whatever, i noticed that whenever my boyfriend kisses the injured body part, the pain seems to go away... is there any scientific explanation to it or is it possible that it's just all in my head?
*note: my boyfriend's not the only one who kisses my so called boo-boos... it started with my mom ever since i was a kid... and i really do feel that the pain disappears..

There are multiple possible causes for boo boo kissing.
The first and most likely is the placebo effect, stating that when one believes something, their mental prowess will cause it to be so, or cause it to be lessened. In your case of hitting your elbow, you believe that having someone kiss it will make it better and when they do, it makes you feel better.

The second is that the feeling of closeness and warmth between the person kissing your boo boo may cause the release of endorphins which is a natural pain killer.

Probably not--it probably is all in your head! Although, I've experienced the same thing. Maybe just the love, care and concern from another person makes us feel good whether the pain goes away or not and our brain disregards the messages from our nerves indicating the pain? :-)

I'm going to guess it would have something to do with seritonin which is a chemical that makes you feel good. I'm guessing just the act of being kissed could release this chemical and make you feel better.

It's all psychological but it's pretty darned effective. My 8 grand kids all think AhDa can fix any booboo with a kiss. Don't try to figure it out just be glad it seems to work.

Isn't just a placebo, a mental thing that makes you forget about the pain?
