I hurt my back shoveling today, I always do when I shovel but I have no choice, no one is going to do it for me, except for my dad but he is 75, I don't want him doing that hard work, anyways I was telling my friend (who is about 13 years older than me) about it and she said that I should go see a chiropractor cause someone my age (I'm 34) should be able to shovel without hurting their back, is she right, should I go see a chiropractor

If your back is hurting you were probably shoveling the wrong way, your supposed to use your arms not your back to do the work. Wait a few days and take some pain relievers each day, after about 3 or 4 days and it is still hurting you I would go see a chiropractor.

she is wrong about 34 yrs old etc...If you were 20 you could have hurt your back?...It more about what shape you are in and what posture you use and technique etc...most back strains go away in 2-6wks..no matter if you see an MD,chiro, family practice or do nothing.Try advil etc per label,Ice 3 x day x 3 days, then heat for a few days...if not better in a couple of wks then take your pick..

Yes.
Chiropractors are useful for short term pain relief but they cannot fix the under lying problem. To fix the problem permanently read and apply this information http://www.helium.com/tm/148271
