My school requires a doctor's note to get out of gym class. I know this because I started school with a badly sprained ankle from playing soccer for the school and I told him that the school's sports injury person said I can't do anything and the teacher said, "Can you walk on it?" and I said, "Barely" and I was forced to participate. Well, I've sprained my other ankle now, (playing soccer, it had almost healed when I re-sprained it last gym class, right at the end of the class), badly, and my parents can't get me to our doctor before my next gym class. Does anyone know of a good way of missing class without getting a zero for not participating? I really would like to miss gym, maybe only once or twice so that it can heal well. I actually like gym and stuff, I just can barely walk now and trying to jog or play basketball would not bode well for a healing ankle.
Thanks, Sean

Have your parents call the principal 1st thing in the AM. Have them tell the situation and that it happened at school & they don't want you to have any permanent damage from playing on school grounds. Tell principal they want you excused from PE until it heals and they can't get you to MD before class.

Then have them write a letter to PE teacher that they spoke to principal & that you are not to participate til you have okay from MD.

Good Luck.

your school sounds like my daughter's school coach, she was injured in a car accident and was in alot of pain in her back and her coach MADE her participate even with a doctor's note. I advised my daughter to just dress out and sit, if she gets a zero for participation oh well, her health is more important than a grade in pe. a bad grade in pe will not be the end of the world. (my daughter loves the competition in pe so missing any days are hard for her, but she does what she has to do)

If your parents are aware that you have an injury, they can write a note and the school has to accept what your parents say. You shouldn't have to go to a doctor for a note unless you are old enough to see a doctor without your parents being involved.

thats wrong! if you sprained your ankle during a school soccer game, you should be pardoned.... they shouldnt make you play while having sprained ankle, due to the risk of permentaly damaging them.

as for your question i have no clue how you can get out of participation in gym... sorry, but i do hope they heal alright.

See if a note from your parents will work. Maybe it would be better to take a 0 so you can really heal. Your health is worth more than one class.
