Injuries - December 2007

I am a freshmen dancer on our varsity high kick team and a couple weeks ago my hamstring was pulled (hopefully not torn) at training. A couple days later i pushed it to hard and was in alot of pain now 3 weeks later my leg is killing me. I am going to physical therapy and i keep missing our meets. helpppp! any healing suggestions?

after a road accident 5 years ago i immediately had severe pains in my neck and bottom of my head, i have had these pains for 5 years and many many visits to my GP and many prescriptions for painkillers i eventually was referred for an MRI, this shows a complete tear of my sternocleidomastoid muscle which runs from behind the ear to the breastbone area, as i was already diagnosed with ankylosing spondilitis 10 years before, my GP and the hospital consultants leaned towards this as the cause of my pain, now i am told it may be too long to be repairable, i am grateful for the hospitals help and treatment but not happy that this was missed as i can't turn my head to the side, i am only 37!!

i am 14 but had a ct scan and everything was alright. i have been having these wierd sensations in my hands and feet like a burning / prickling feeling. it annoys me, and the ct scan came back negative. i had blood test done too, which were clean except for epstiene bar? or w/e but my doctor said lots of people have it. do you have any idea what this may be? im hoping nothing serious.

Well i went to a friends hockey game, and then i got a caribou capachino, and well i drank some, and then like it was super hot, and i sipt it out, and it burnt holes in the lid of the cup!!! and now i can bearly taste stuff, and my tounge is like pins and needles, like that sleepy feeling. plz help me, do i need a doctor? whats wrong?

I am very active person that is looking for insight or treatment so that I can still participate in sports activities. What kind of doctor should I see, a neurologist or a sports medicine? I fell on my butt and I have had a problem since. I experience weakness in my leg and pain after a short while of being active. I have had ex-rays that say my back is fine. Thanks

my mom was opening a knife drawer and it jabbed into her pointer finger about a centimeter inward and she says it feels numb but she doesnt know if she should go to the doctor or not? have other people had the same thing happen and do you think she should go get it checked out? any answers would help! thanks

Everything was feeling great, up until four weeks ago. I am starting to have a lot of pain on the back side of my knee. This only happens when I kneel down. It feels like ,my leg is falling a sleep. The pain is very quick and am unable to stay in this position for more than a few minutes. When I stand up every thing goes back to normal.

ok when I was 14 I rode steers in rodeos and i got my lower back stepped on I have been in pain ever since then, it was really bruised when it happened, I am 16 now my back is always sore when i wake up, I cant do back stretches as well and icant bend over as well either, I went to the doctors for it, all they said was "oh you just sprained your back nothing serious." and they did not do anything about it do you think I could have slipped a disc or something?

I recently dropped some weight on my toe (about 60 pounds). My toenail was bruised as a result. I have been able to get out some of the dried blood which causes the nail to look blue about halfway down the nail. How should I clean the bottom of the nail without any surgery? Any ideas? Will the blueish color go away in a few months? Do I need to just wait? THANK YOU!

My 13 year old son fell down the dtairs last night, and injured his foot, he couldn'r put pressure on it, and now used vrutches that we had from before...my wife called 911 and they told him to stay put until they got there. The doctor at hospital took xray's, came to see my son, said rudely, "There's no reason to have to call emergency 911 resue for something like this, I wouldn't recommend doing it again, if it's not necessary, save it for the people who really need it." As he said he was going to look at the xray's and be back, my wife saw him go to his desk, but didn't look at naything, talked to a nurse, and game back saying, "well, I don't think there's anything majorly wrong with his foot, it's probobly just a sprain, can he put pressure on it?" Our son got up and slowly put pressure on it, and walked with a hobble, and painful limp. He didn't give him any pain medication, or splint, cast, or even an ace wrap, and sent him home. should we have a lawsuite here?

The top part of my left shoulder hurts and part of my neck. And when i breath or even laugh the pain is unbearable. there is also pain in my shoulder blade. I had work last night and we did have to lift some heavy boxes and it started hurting sometime last night. I dont know what i did to it. Can anyone help me? And maybe suggest a really good over the counter pain medicine.

I cracked a bone in my foot 4 weeks ago and it is in a medical boot and i havent been able to walk on it. But it is still swolen and still hurts just as much. So i have to get an MRI. Do u think that anything else could be wrong with it? HOw long does it usually take for a cracked bone to heal in a foot?

Hi,

A few weeks ago I had an injury while playing soccer. I'm male, 37 and have never had any knee problems before. About the injury: I was stepping to kick the ball and my foot was planted and leg bent and I fell with a "twisting motion" where it felt like my femur and shin bone twisted different directions. Immediately, I realized I could not get up and the pain was VERY strong. I had friends of mine take me home. So, for the next week or so I did RICE, rest, icing, compressing and elevating my knee. Now, about 4 weeks later, I can walk on my leg, but here is what I am experiencing:

First, I cannot bend my knee more than 90 degrees (a right angle). Second, when I walk, my injured leg does not straighten out all the way and I have a painless limp. Third, I feel pain along the anterior (inner) joint line. Finally, I cannot ride a stationary bike because it is too painful to flex my knee to that point.

Anyone have this injury before? What did you do? How long can I put off surgery?

My brother and I have been very close all of our lives. He’s a laid back guy with a good sense of humor that prided himself on his work ethic (foreman of a crew building pools).
About a year ago he was in a tragic car accident that left him paralyzed from the waist down L His physical recovery has come full circle, but I worry about his emotional recovery. He doesn’t do much… mostly vids and movies, he doesn’t work or anything. He survives off Workman’s comp (since he was driving for work when the accident happen). He has gone back to school for his GED, and plans on going to collage, sometime between his vids and watching movies!?!

I love him so much and it saddens me to know that he really doesn’t feel he has a reason to get up in the morning L

I’m not looking for pity, just like scenarios and advise please.

I was in a wreck last night when some guy ran a stop sign and hit us going around 60 mph. I didnt feel the pain then but a couple hours later my back started to hurt, my head and my hip. If i go to the doctors will his insurance have to pay even though i didnt get check out the same day? How do i go about this and what do i tell the hospital about billing? SOmeone please help

...I had surgery and was instructed to take high dose prescription ibuprofen but now I can't sleep without it. I wake up in the middle of the night and think I'm in a lot of pain. Maybe I AM in a lot of pain? The surgery was very minor and it has been almost a month.

I'm 15, 5'8 and 130 (Not sure if that is needed.) I always have cold hands and feet and can never warm them up. Even after jogging, lifting weights they're still cold. However, sometimes they are not, it's very weird. Also, today, the first time this has happened, 1 of my hands is warm while my feet and other hand are cold.

umm okay i know this may sound stupid && im clumsy so its ok
so i was skipping to my room and i 4got my mom had just mopped so i slipped and fell on my leg
and now my calf hurts when i do certain movements
like can it be fractured?

I got hit in the back of my hand with a hockey puck while doing lines about 2 or 3 weeks ago, it was very swollen for that day but the swelling was gone the next day and no bruise ever appeared, yet it is still sore now and is starting to get annoying
