Injuries - April 2007

After stepping on a miniscule piece of glass a few weeks ago I tried to take it out but had no luck,,Fast foward a few weeks later, now I have a swollen bump on my foot...What do I do?..Is it really serious??

About 1 month ago I was knocked over by some dogs and twisted my ankle. It was too painful to walk on for about 48 hours but soon got better. After 1 week it got knocked again as it was still weak but wasn't as painful as before. Its still quite swollen and sore. Could I have water on the ankle or something that requires treating or will it just take more time?

um 18 yrz old and I hurt my back about a 5 weeks ago...I was told that it was only a back strain and that it should all go away within 2 weeks.. it has been 5 weeks and I still have the pain... I mean even though I can do everything I normally do without it bothering me too much but the pain is still there. Plz anyone had this before and can tell me if it healed... Because I went to the doctor and he did a force test you know when you push your legs aganist his hands and he said I should get physiotherapy.... is it serious or what.. thank you

Plus, ive been told not to excercise for 2 weeks as i pulled it while doing a body combat class. Im thinkin of still going to step aerobics but refrain from using any arm movements. Do u think this is a good idea?

I'm having really bad rib pain. It feels like a crushing pressure on my ribs. It happened all of last night, then stopped around 3am, then it started up again about 10 minutes ago. It's around 12:05am. any ideas on what could be causing this?

I was born with club feet. I'm 46, so this was before surgery was common for correcting this deformity. Casting was used and my left foot appears normal. My right foot is fairly straight, but I tends to wear out the right shoe quickly. What is the best brand as far as comfort AND durability for someone with a slightly crooked foot, big ankle, and a foot that just isn't normal?

ok i have a trampoline and i was jumping on it and i landed wrong and fell on my wrist hard!! if i turn it to the right to far it hurts really baddly and my mom just doesnt care at all and i need some ones oppinion to convince her to take me to the doctors! i think it might be broken or split! My Son fell off a roof and hurt the bottom of his foot on the the heel.
The tendions are very sore and swollen.
He went to the Doctor but he was not much help.
Any suggestions on how to relieve the pain.
Hot or Cold or anything else?

It was several hours ago and it is hurting pretty bad. turning blue-ish around knuckle and knuckle is swollen. I can bend it although it hurts. I put ice on it. Should I buddy tape it or do anything else or just give it a couple days to heal?

I recently asked a question looking for some fun things to do for a weekend getaway and mentioned that the activities would have to be handicapped accessible being that one of my legs is in a cast from my toes to my thigh.

Considering I only recieved one answer to that question, I asked this question. So what are some fun things to do when your leg is broken and is in a cast, and your stuck in a wheelchair or using crutches?

hi... i am a young athlete (13) and i play a lot of sports. recently, my knee started hurting. it is not bruised but i feel a dull pain and when i put pressure on it i feel a sharp pain. it is warmer than my other knee and is swollen and hurts to use. does anybody know what it is?

I was walking without shoes last night and stepped on a rock with my heel. The heel of my foot started hurting and I couldn't put any weight on it for the rest of the night. Today there is a bump where I stepped on the rock, which I assume is due to swelling. It doesn't hurt unless I put weight on it. What happened and what can I do to help it heal faster?

Today my bitchen boyfriend decided to take down an old fence on the side of our yard. However, when I went out there to say good morning to him as I turned around and started walking back to the side door I stepped on one of the planks and into my foot went 2 rusty nails.
Oh my gosh it hurt so f****** bad!!!!!!!!!! I was wearing flip flops (very cute ones too) but the nails went straight through them. I cleaned the two holes right when it happened, is it ok if I wait till Monday to go get a tetanus shot, or should I go like 3 hours ago???????
If I wait, what are some of the signs that I should look for to tell that something is wrong due to the rusty nails in my foot?

I kind of twisted my ankle a while ago (about a week), but it hurts just in the area near the knobby part on your foot. I still played sports even though it hurt a little. Is this really bad? (I didn't see a doctor about it).

ok it feels im losing my vision and feels as if some veryyyyyyyyy light weight is on my eye.....i can't describe wether this is blur or just imy vision

well wat was unusual i was up all night working reading and i havent slept much in the past couple of days, then at noon i took a nap and woke up at 5 ( and i put an eye cap) and this has happened, im so terrified like now when im typing i have to come closer to type and see!!!!!!! i already wear glasses

I woke up this morning to find that my eye was almost totally red, and swollen. i used ice to reduce the swell, and now part of my eye is still red. i went to the doctor and he told me that when i was sleepin im mustve hit my eye and gave me panadol to shut me up :)it is still red, any other solution for it.?

LOL...I've always heard rumors about people's nails turning black when they slam them in something or drop something on them. So is it true what happens next? Is my nail going to fall off? I honestly could care less what happens to the PSP...I never used that thing that much to begin with...

I hurt my self in Nov at work, my Dr. was treating me for muscle spasms which was sever. sent me to physical therapy. The pain in my neck, back,and both shoulders was still there. Work comp. sent me to there drs. the shoulder and back dr. gave me injections in my shoulders. only helped in one. the pain in neck and shoulder and back is still there . she ordered mri on both my shoulders of course w.c. refused said I had to go for physical therapy again, i went to 6 weeks of it, the last two dizzy spells started and black outs. IN the mean time I was sent to a neck Dr. { I had a MRI done with my family on my neck and spine I have a bulge disk in my neck.] He send me to the
pain mangement for injection on my right side of the neck. In the mean time w.c.
refused the second mri. the injection did
not work. the dr. sending me to P.T. again.
and neuro. Before Lt. duty, now no work
w.c. aproved MRI less then 24 hrs.after inj.
dizzy and blackouts worse pain the same

Doctors say i have to have surgery on my schapoid cuz i got a scaphoid fracture, they cant force me right? if i choose to wear a cast for longer to heal or decide i dont need surgery i can do it right?
