I'm having really bad rib pain. It feels like a crushing pressure on my ribs. It happened all of last night, then stopped around 3am, then it started up again about 10 minutes ago. It's around 12:05am. any ideas on what could be causing this?

It's the lower ribs on both sides.

I wouldn't be pondering as to what it could be...I would be on my way to the Emergency dept. If it isreally bad pain and feels like crushing pressure...something isn't right. You could have broken/fractured your ribs, you could be having a pulminary embolism(blood clot in the vein of your lungs) , it could be a torn valve in your heart...it could be a number of things.....perhaps only just brusied ribs...but either way.......Better to be safe than sorry* Get dressed, call a cab or someone to take you and go to emerg* You're not able to sleep because of the pain.......Don't be silly* Go get it checked out. You should go to another doctor. Perhaps a orthopedic doctor to make sure you don't have minor fractures or a rheumatologist to check for certain types of arthritis. Good luck, I hope you get it taken care of soon!

where it hurts lower right appendix top left heart or lungs .if you havent fallen or brused them,it could be serious,no advice on here will help you go to the emergency room asap

it could be heart related pains, if it is very bad and you have no nitroglicerin or you dont know how to take them right, call 911 and get an ambulance
