Injuries - February 2007

I got around 3 pebbles stuck in my hand and I thought it was too painful to take it out with tweezers so I left them in my hand. The scab is almost done and healed over. Should I leave the pebbles in there? Is it okay to leave the pebbles in there? What else can I do? I've already put hydroxen peroxide so I'm not too worried about an infection.

Let's just start by saying I am a klutz,a little over a week ago I tripped over a curb and because I was holding an item in each hand I fell really hard. My knee slammed into the ground HARD. It's still swollen and tender now and when I try to feel my knee it feels strange. Sometimes when I am sitting or standing it feels like something is moving or shifting could I have cracked my knee or maybe someting else. It doesn't hurt to walk,bend my knee,or crawl around on it. I probably should get it checked out but I have no insurance and if it is nothing I don't need a huge bill to tell me that. Any ideas would be helpful Thanx!

Just saw MD.. asked me how much longer I have until I retire..The question says it all. I'm too young to retire and have put in 23 years of employment with an excellent record. I dont' want to retire medically.. and would like to find something within the company to finish my career.. Did supervise for a few years..but not sure that is the option I want and I don't want to be cripple at retirement age. I have a few weeks to figure out with path I'll take. My back was fused 40 years ago.. Birth defect..

About a month ago a bar hit my ankle and it swole up immediatley. Two weeks later still swollen and blood looks like it seeped across my whole foot. It's been a while and my ankle still hurts It's still sore do you have any suggestions

I rolled my ankle when i fell out of a tree, i know it's not broken or torn anything and theres no swelling. i just rolled it.

i have been icing it, like i was told.

now i am looking for the best ways to tape it sor support while heals. can anyone give me any suggestions or websites that can tell me the best ways of taping ankle injuries and even preventative taping for sport.

I didnt really get punched in the balls it was more of a mediocore slap can this cause serious injury like me being unable to have kids. it hurt for about 5 minutes and then went away.

about two inches under my knee on my shin theres an extremely sensitive spot. at first it was a bruise but now the bruise has gone away and it still really hurts. even if the slightest pressure is put on my leg it kills. whats wrong? is it possible to pinch a nerve on your shin?

i injured my shoulder and the dr doesnt know what is wrong yet cuz they havent done any test and this happened a month ago
i been putting heat and ice on it and taking ib profen and tylenol
and now the pain is going up my neck and giving me headaches and pain down my back, in the front and down my arm on my right side the pain is shape tingley and my fingers get swollon once in awhile any help out there

my knee bent and there was a popping sound.it occered on 11th january and i still have problems in walking.strangely it doesnt pain much if n when i dont do ny physical activity.i m a student n i ve to walk anyways.do yu have ny idea how can i walk without straining my ligament nymore and how much time it may take to cure.i dont want ny knind of surgery.

Hi,

Im 16 now. When I was 12 I broke my right leg in two places (tibia and fibia or something like that). Anyway, after the cast came off and after all the physiotherapy etc...Ive come to notice that my leg is twisted so that the foot is pointing out to the right. I.e. when I just stand on my left leg, my knee goes perfectly down over the foot so I cant see it. When I just stand on my right leg, the knee goes down but doesnt cover my foot because the foot is twisted round to the right slightly.

In other words, left foot is 0 degrees off of the left knee but right foot is maybe 30 degrees clockwise off of the right knee.
I hope that is clear.
Anyway, I was wondering whether there is any PHYSIOTHERAPY I could do to get my foot twisted back?

I have this pain in my right hand from my palm area to my third finger and it's VERY painful!! I had carpal tunnel surgery done on both hands 5 yrs ago, I am right handed so I use it more. I went to my family doctor, he had xrays & an MRI done on my hand, he said it didn't show any swelling, arthritius or anything unusual. He said I might be getting carpal tunnel back! He suggested I wear a brace for carpal tunnel to bed at night, so I do... but it doesn't seem to helping. The pain seems to be worse. I don't remember this kind of pain when I had carpal tunnel, it was mostly numbness, then painful. My question is....is there a specialist that I should go to for my hand or continue wearing the brace & see what happens...it really hurts bad!!

This morning when I got up from my bed, there was this weird, giving out feeling in my left leg. It has never happened before. It doesn't hurt but it feels like its kind of sharp, and my whole leg goes weak for half a second. Also, this slight sharp pain seems to be comming from my inner leg, maybe even my bone.

If this helps, I'm very active.

my dad had to have a op and had part of his hip replaced. just 1 week and 4 days later the hospital sent my dad back to the mental hospital. last night i got a call fron the mental hospital saying they are sending him back to the main hospital again because hes become quite ill. can anyone tell me how long should of my dad stayed in hospital after hes op. Thanks

My right shoulder has been hurting for the past week. I've see my doctor about it before and was given a list of excercises for my rotator cuff. I've since lost the printout, but other than wikipedia is there a good medical site where I can get a list and pictures of the excercises? I'm a beggining body builder so I would like to get my shoulder back to normal as soon as possible.

Yesterday I injured my neck and I was wondering if its worth it to go to the ER. I was reaching up above my head and tieing something on a ladder very tight. When I went to tie the knot harder i heard/felt my neck pop. Sine then my neck has gotten so stiff I can BARELY get in/out of bed without grunting and having sharp pains in my neck. The only reason I would go to the ER is for pain medicine because nothing over-the-counter is helping and I cannot remove a hand from my neck without getting sharp pains. I'm sure all they will wanna do is an x-ray or something and tell me 2 go 2 a chiropractor but the pain is unbearable. Any advice???
