I'm surprised at your doctor. It's very common. You are simply not getting enough oxygen in your blood during a heavy workout like running. Believe it or not...the answer is in your training. You need to learn to breathe properly while running AND you will need to slowly increase your endurance level. Consistency and attention to proper form and proper hydration during training will show improvements before you know it.
Of course, if you only run occasionally and in gym class only you will always have this problem.

It's just a sideache. It can be caused by lots of things such as eating or drinking a large amount before exercising. There are stretches which help to get rid of it. Lay on the ground and pull back the leg on the side which hurts, and breath in slowly through your nose, and out through your mouth. It'll go away in time.

It might be a "side stitch" which defined is "as intense stabbing pain during exercise". I used to get this back when I ran track in Jr & Sr High school. Make sure you are doing good warm up stretches with deep breathing prior to any strenuous physical activity.

It could be your spleen, but it's nothing to worry about, it will eventually go away or better lessen. But in the meantime if you feel it coming on, jog in place. I would stop running altogether and start speedwalking instead . Once in a while run again and see if it is not as bad anymore with the pain.

Make sure you are well hydrated. Drink lots of water during the day so that by the time you run, you are hydrated. Bring a water bottle to your workout so you can stay hydrated. Hope this helps.

You might want to go to another doctor. But I think you are not getting enough exercise.

It might be just a cramp...go to another doctor...or when you run...when your done put your arms up above your head...that always worked for me. Good luck and go see someone before it gets serious!
