Let's just start by saying I am a klutz,a little over a week ago I tripped over a curb and because I was holding an item in each hand I fell really hard. My knee slammed into the ground HARD. It's still swollen and tender now and when I try to feel my knee it feels strange. Sometimes when I am sitting or standing it feels like something is moving or shifting could I have cracked my knee or maybe someting else. It doesn't hurt to walk, bend my knee,or crawl around on it. I probably should get it checked out but I have no insurance and if it is nothing I don't need a huge bill to tell me that. Any ideas would be helpful Thanx!

OK - it feels strange, but you can walk, crawl and flex the knee without pain. That all seems to say there is no serious injury.

I'd be using ice on the knee to see if that helps the swelling. If another week goes by and there is no change, I'd see a physician or PT.

TO MAKE SURE YOU DON"T WASTE YOUR $: When you see the doctor or therapist, be specific about how it feels, and when you feel the pain. The more specific you can be, the better the info you provide, the better they can serve you. We aren't veterinarians = We need to be told what is wrong. If you can't tell us about it, you won't be happy with the result!

To find a PT: go to APTA.org, click on "find a PT", and search your home area.

Good luck!

Nah, you'll be right. If anything was broken, like maybe your patella (knee cap) you wouldn't be able to walk at all and you would be in extreme pain. It's probably just bruised.

if your knee cap was broken or shattered you couldn't move it, but you could have damaged the Meniscus or Bursa(fluid sack) in your knee. if it continues much longer you will have to seek help, there's no way around it.... you need your knees

if it was broken, you wouldn't be able to walk, so you probably just bruised the bone or something. i would ask the doctor just to be sure.
